Warning: There are huge spoilers ahead if you haven't watched the mid-season premiere of "The Walking Dead."
After much anticipation, "The Walking Dead" finally recreated one of the biggest moments from the comic series, and it did not disappoint.
If you're an avid reader of the comics, you probably saw the shocking moment coming for some time.
However, if you attended New York Comic Con this past October you may have had the big moment spoiled for you if you aren't keeping up with the popular Image Comics' series.
Last chance to head back before spoilers!
Still here? Great!
If you tuned in Sunday night, you'll know it finally happened! Carl lost an eye after getting shot by a stray bullet.
It's a scene that's been long teased in the show — we've written about it afew times — and which fans thought was coming, too.
If this kid shoots Carl I will loose it! No no no! Stop it! #TWD#TheWalkingDead

Yeah, we all know why Ron stole those Bullets, keep an eye out for that lad Carl🤕 #TheWalkingDead

The scene played out slightly different in the comics. In Robert Kirkman's series, Carl gets shot by a rogue bullet fired by the Alexandria community leader. In the show, Carl's shot by a rogue bullet from Ron who was holding both Rick and Carl at gunpoint.
Other than being shot by a different character, it was a scene that played out quite similar to comic issue #83.
If you attended New York Comic Con back in October and were walking by the Image Comics booth, you may have had an inkling this was coming.
Hanging above the booth was a huge banner for the series featuring Carl and his naked eye socket. The scene not only showed that Carl loses his eye, but that he'll also come out of the accident alive.
Even as a fan of the series and the comics, I was quite taken aback to see such a big spoiler out in the open for those who may not be caught up with the series.
Maybe it was a wink and a nod for those who had an inkling of what was to come.
