The midseason finale of "Breaking Bad" this past Sunday was viewed by 2.8 million people--up 47 percent from viewership on last season's finale.

AMC's hit show is splitting its 16-episode season into two parts, with the latter part airing next year. The first eight episode's viewership was up 39 percent from last season, according to press release published on The Wrap.

The show's network host is quite proud of its moneymaker.

"Congratulations to everyone involved in Sunday's great success and for delivering episode after episode of television that is nothing short of remarkable. 'Breaking Bad' began 5 years ago with a pilot that was like nothing we had ever seen on television," stated Charlie Collier, AMC's president, in the release.

Dish Network dropped AMC recently, but this has not slowed the show's growth, as it nabbed notoriety with 13 Emmy nominations last season.
