Peter Dinklage nearly turned down his 'Game of Thrones' role

It's impossible to imagine anyone but actor Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister on "Game of Thrones."

Dinklage, who won an Emmy for his performance on the HBO series, brings a slyness and modernity to the character, making him the show's most beloved bad boy.

A year ago, in a Reddit AMA, the actor revealed he nearly turned down the part.

Before "Game of Thrones," Dinklage was a star on the horizon. He kept busy with small film roles and TV cameos: voicing a character in the "Ice Age" franchise, dating Liz Lemon on "30 Rock," and appearing in both the American and British versions of "Death at a Funeral."

One of the bigger-budget fantasy epics, 2008's "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" cast the 4-foot-5-inch-tall actor as Trumpkin, the cynical, practical caretaker of the Pevensie children. The role of a "Red Dwarf" required him to sit in the makeup chair for three hours each morning.

"It was a lovely experience, but it was pretty uncomfortable," Dinklage told The New York Times in 2012.

prince caspian peter dinklage chronicles of narniaEight years ago, when "Game of Thrones" co-creator and showrunner David Benioff approached Dinklage with the role of Tyrion, the actor felt concerned.

"I had one hesitation, because of the fantasy genre, I told him I didn't want a really long beard and pointy shoes," Dinklage said in his Reddit AMA.

"Dwarves in these genres always have this look," he told The Times. "My guard was up. Not even my guard — my metal fence, my barbed wire was up. Even 'Lord of the Rings' had dwarf-tossing jokes in it."

"[Benioff and co-creator Dan Weiss] assured me this character and this world wasn't that," Dinklage told Reddit. "They told me about his complexity, the fact that he wasn't a hero or a villain, that he was a womanizer and a drinker, and they painted a flawed and beautiful portrait of him, so I signed on."

sansa tyrion game of thronesTyrion Lannister, the black sheep of a wealthy family, responds to his physical limitations with wit and cunning. He dresses in traditional Medieval-inspired clothing, often in the House of Lannister colors of crimson and gold, and keeps his curly brown locks short, not unlike how Dinklage styles his hair in real life.

"I feel really lucky, although I hate that word — 'lucky,'" Dinklage said to the Times. "It cheapens a lot of hard work. ... I don't think I felt myself lucky back then, doing plays for $50 and trying to be true to myself as an artist and turning down commercials where they wanted a leprechaun."

"I won't say I'm lucky," Dinklage said. "I'm fortunate enough to find or attract very talented people. For some reason I found them, and they found me."

You can catch Dinklage and his very talented "Game of Thrones" castmates Sunday nights on HBO.

Suspended NBC news anchor Brian Williams makes rare public appearance while fate remains up in the air

Since Brian Williams was suspended without pay on February 10, the embattled “NBC Nightly News” anchor has hardly been seen in public.

Until yesterday, when he was spotted on the streets of Manhattan clutching his daughter Allison's new Golden Retriever puppy, Moxie, while walking with her and his wife Jane, according to pictures published by the Daily Mail.

The longtime news anchor was removed from the airwaves in the wake of the fabrication scandal prompted by his now-discredited claim that his helicopter took rocket fire during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Since his suspension, he has only reportedly been seen one other time in public - at a fundraiser for his high school in New Jersey.

It is unclear if Williams will return to the anchor chair, currently occupied by Lester Holt amid a slide in ratings that has seen ABC’s “World News Tonight” ascend to the top spot among primetime national newscasts, according to the Associated Press.

"Game of Thrones" goes to great lengths to bring George R.R. Martin's Westeros to life.

Costume designers and hair stylists for the show draw inspiration from cultures from all over the world in order to capture this expansive and diverse world.

The cast members themselves are always willing to commit, whether they play a king, a queen, or a knight. Some wear lavish wigs while others chop their hair right off.

Many of the actors are barely recognizable in real life. If you passed by a few of them on the street, you probably wouldn't even know it.

In season five, Sansa Stark goes for a new, darker look as she tags along with Little Finger.

In real life, Turner dyes her hair for the show. When her character had red hair, they had to use a "mix of four different watercolor shades."

‘Game of Thrones’ creators say they already know the ending to the show

D.B. Weiss, Dave Benioff, Game of Thrones

This week, "Game of Thrones" showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss spoke with Variety about the trials and process of bringing George R.R. Martin's behemoth book series onto the HBO screen.

While addressing deviations they've had to make from their source material, it was confirmed that they know how the story will end.

"We know what the end is, and we’re barreling toward it," explained Benioff. "So the idea that we’re going to try and stretch it out by an extra couple years just because we’re all having a good time doing it and people are making money off it just feels like it would be a betrayal."

Interestingly, George R.R. Martin does not have the finer details planned out - he generally makes up the storylines as he goes. Benioff noted that "even while [Weiss and I] talk to him about the ending, it doesn’t mean that that ending that he has currently conceived is going to be the ending when he eventually writes it."

This should keep book readers and show watchers alike on their toes as seasons five and six take us closer to the series conclusion.

SNL 911 1 final

Wednesday night Bao Nguyen’s documentary “Live From New York!,” which looks back on 40 years of “Saturday Night Live,” opened the 14th annual Tribeca Film Festival.

A moving moment for the audience was when the film touched on the first “SNL” show following 9/11.

The memories are recounted by the show’s creator, Lorne Michaels, and then-Mayor of New York City, Rudolph Giuliani. But the director of the episode, Beth McCarthy-Miller, also provides her recollections and gave some unique insight on the opening of the show.

She said that the first-responders standing behind Giuliani in the episode had all been down at Ground Zero. “They all had this thousand-yard stare,” she said in the documentary.

At the start of the show, McCarthy-Miller said she was determined to get all of the first-responders’ faces in the same shot, and tried to get as many of them in the shot when the camera went in tighter.

SNL 911 2 finalShe also said that at one point during Giuliani speaking, she even had to step out of the control room as she was so overcome with emotion by the moment.

“I had to step away and cry,” she said. “All those people who had lost their lives” were still very much on everyone’s minds.

McCarthy-Miller said it was Michaels who came up with the famous exchange between he and Giuliani at the end of the opening:

Michaels: “Can we be funny?”

Giuliani: “Why start now.”

SNL 911 3 finalIt was a powerful moment not only in the movie but its setting Wednesday night. The Tribeca Film Festival was created by Robert De Niro and his producing partner, Jane Rosenthal, following the attacks on September 11, 2001, in hopes to bring business back to lower Manhattan.

Here’s the complete opening of the “SNL” episode.

bronn game of thronesWarning: There are spoilers ahead if you haven't watched season 5, episode 2 of "Game of Thrones."

Sunday night’s “Game of Thrones” episode set into motion many interesting plot lines, including Arya’s reunion with Jaqen H’ghar in Braavos and Daenerys’ struggle to keep Meeren under control.

But the most interesting revelation in the episode was a large deviation from the book canon – Jaime and Bronn are heading to Dorne to rescue Jaime's daughter, Myrcella.

In the book series, Jaime spends this time in the Riverlands on actual diplomatic missions, and he brings along Ilyn Payne. If that name sounds familiar, it's because he's the the royal executioner in King's Landing, the one who cut off Ned Stark’s head.

His tongue was removed as punishment long ago, so he lives as a mute knight in both the show and the books.

Ned Stark's execution

Since Ilyn is a skilled swordsman as well as a mute, Jaime brings him to the Riverlands (in the books) in order to practice fighting with his left hand. Jaime trusts that Ilyn cannot spread rumors about his lack of skill without his right hand.

Last season, we saw hints of the pending substitution when Bronn was the one helping Jaime practice sword fighting.

bronn jaime game of thrones sword

So why has the show swapped out Ilyn for Bronn?

Bronn, played by Jerome Flynn, quickly became a go-to source for both comic relief and great fight scenes on HBO’s adaptation. His quips with Tyrion and general forthrightness about his lack of honor make him a rare character on the show. Rather than following leaders based on respect or sworn oaths, he is a sellsword through and through; whoever pays him the most gold gets his services. The show creators were probably already looking for ways to keep him on screen, since his story arc in the books petered off once Cersei bribed Bronn to leave King’s Landing and marry Lollys Stokeworth.

tyrion bronn game of thronesAs fate would have it, a bittersweet opportunity presented itself when Wilko Johnson, the actor who played Ilyn Payne, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late 2012.

Johnson initially issued a statement saying that he would not be seeking chemotherapy treatment, and the showrunners were left to decide how best to respect Johnson in light of the tragic news.

tim p whitby game of thrones actorSeasons three and four of the show aired with no re-casting of Payne’s character, but they did mention him twice, indicating that the character was still alive.  This worked well since Payne didn’t have much plot in those sections of the books, but many fans speculated how they would handle season five and Payne’s role in the Riverlands.

Sunday’s episode answered that for us, as we saw Jaime recruit Bronn with promises of bigger castles and more money if he helped him journey to Dorne and bring Myrcella back. This is good news for those who were going to miss the banter between the sellsword and Tyrion, since a budding bromance with Bronn and Jaime is probably the next best thing.

bronn game of thronesAnd the good news continues! Wilko Johnson announced late last year that he underwent surgery, and doctors successfully removed a tumor and he is now cancer free. Initially given just 10 months to live, Johnson came to peace with the diagnosis and lived as best he could for that time. When he realized that his health wasn’t deteriorating as rapidly as expected, doctors re-evaluated his condition and decided that the tumor was actually operable.

Johnson is still in recovery, but his friend Charles Shaar Murray posted an optimistic message on Facebook, stating:

“Wilk's still in the comparatively early stages of recovery from his MASSIVE life-saving surgery, but he's in good spirits (though he's no longer drinking any), working hard to rebuild strength and stamina, itching to resume maltreating Telecasters in public and even speculating on returning to Game of Thrones once Ser Ilyn Payne is no longer ill in pain and he's strong enough to wield the Big Sword once more. And he thanks all y'all for the good vibes.”

Perhaps we will see the formidable Ilyn Payne on screen again soon, but in the meantime, Bronn's substition is warmly welcomed.

HBO's 'Silicon Valley' really built a 'Bro app' based off the Yo app

silicon valley season 2 3

Warning: There are spoilers ahead.

On Sunday’s episode of “Silicon Valley,” the Pied Piper gang are back and meeting with venture capitalists after a lawsuit from their main competitor, Hooli, caused the VC company of the late Peter Gallagher to back out on investing in them.

But there was also a funny subplot during the episode, in which Pied Piper member Dinesh (Kumail Nanjiani) tries desperately to sabotage his cousin’s Kickstarter campaign for his app called "Bro."

Bro is a messaging app that lets you send the word “Bro” to everyone else who has the app.

Showing his cousin he's "cool,” Dinesh donated $5,000 to his campaign, but now with Pied Piper's funding in peril, Dinesh doesn't have the money and tries to convince his cousin to halt the campaign.

If Bro sounds familiar, that's because there’s a very similar app already on the market.

The Yo app, created by Or Arbel  reportedly in only eight hours in 2014  makes it possible for you to send people who also have the app the word "Yo."

Yo App“Silicon Valley” creator Mike Judge told Business Insider that season 2 was being written when Yo hit the market and they thought it was comedy gold.

“It’s silly because it’s a nothing app,” Judge explains. "I remember thinking, there was MySpace and Friendster before Facebook and maybe after Yo some others would come along.” (Which has already happened, thanks to Aaron Paul. In fact, it's been brought to our attention since this story originally went up that there is also a real Bro app.)

But like most jokes or storylines on the show, the creators always attempt to bring as much reality to it as possible.

In the case of Bro, a team was formed to create a prototype.

silicon valley season 2 2“We worked with a bunch of iOS developers and there were some interfaces [of Bro] that were developed for the day we shot,” said “Silicon Valley” co-producer and lead technical consultant, Jonathan Dotan. “So some of the actors had the prototype [in the scene]."

There aren’t any shots of the Bro interface in the episode, but the use of the app leads to a funny sequence in which Pied Piper member Jared (Zach Woods) sets up a meeting with a VC company through "Broing" with one of its members. However, the meeting turns out to be disastrous for the Pied Piper guys, leading a heartbroken Jared to confront his contact saying, “I thought we were bros?”

According to HBO, there are no plans to make the Bro app available for the general public.

Business Insider reached out to Yo creator Or Arbel to get his thoughts on Bro. Though he was not aware the show spoofed his app, he seemed flattered.

“I love the show, so for Yo to be mentioned is amazing,” said Arbel. “We are doing some things that are bigger than sending a Yo or a Bro, but this is a milestone for us, to be honest.”

Verizon may have figured out how to lower ESPN's astronomical monthly fees

espn sportscenter set

ESPN does not like Verizon’s new pricing strategy for FIOS.

The wireless carrier and cable provider announced this week that customers will now be able to opt out of bundles and customize its television packages to include mostly just the channels they watch — and possibly exclude others like ESPN.

Verizon’s new “Custom TV” plans have moved ESPN's networks, which rank among the most profitable in the world, from basic cable to a sports “genre,” according to the company's website.

All cable channels have carriage agreements, or contracts allowing providers to broadcast channels, that set monthly per-subscriber rates paid to them by providers.

It all comes down to money — ESPN and ESPN 2's carriage agreements with Verizon require them to be on basic cable and also prohibit them from placing them on a sports tier, basic cable has far more subscribers than any specialized tiers — the fewer televisions that offer ESPN, the lower its ratings and less money it can make from cable and satellite providers.

This leaves the network in a weaker negotiating position when carriage agreements are up for renewal.

ESPN’s programming, which is dominated by live sporting events across almost every major sport, and several minor sports, is among the highest rated among all pay channels.

The Disney-owned network currently charges cable and satellite companies a monthly $5.54 per subscriber fee, by far the highest in the industry. TNT, the second-most expensive network, charges a relatively paltry $1.33 each month per subscriber.

ESPN ripped the announcement in a statement to Business Insider.

"Media reports about Verizon’s new contemplated bundles describe packages that would not be authorized by our existing agreements," the network contended. "Among other issues, our contracts clearly provide that neither ESPN nor ESPN2 may be distributed in a separate sports package."

ESPN did not respond to a question asking what potential action it would take to try to reverse Verizon's tactics.

Custom TV is built on a base of 35 channels, none of which are ESPN, and augmented by several genres including kids, pop culture, lifestyle, entertainment, news & info, sports and sports plus.

"We believe we are allowed to offer consumers and small businesses this choice and flexibility under our existing contracts," Verizon said in a statement to Business Insider.

The packages can also be used as standalone or in tandem with internet and phone service, similar to traditional double or triple play packages offered my most providers. They have not replaced the standard FIOS Extreme HD, Preferred HD or Ultimate HD packages already being offered to customers.

scorpion cbs tv showCBS’s tech nerd procedural “Scorpion” ended its first season on a high note when it became Monday night’s most-watched scripted show.

“Scorpion” earned a strong 2.1 rating with the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults aged 18-49 and averaged 10.4 million viewers, according to preliminary Nielsen numbers. That’s an 11% and 9% lift over last week’s numbers, respectively.

Its closest competition came from "Mike & Molly" and "2 Broke Girls," which both earned a 1.9 rating. Fox’s “Gotham" was the second highest-rated drama of the night with a 1.5.

A solid performer for CBS all season, “Scorpion” averaged a 2.3 rating and 10.95 million viewers.

gothamAlready renewed for a second season in January, “Scorpion” has helped fuddy-duddy CBS gain some viewers in the younger demos — something the network is going to have to build on as it prepares to air its “Supergirl” series.

“Scorpion” is also one of the network’s most streamed series, which typically means younger viewers are watching the show — another good sign for CBS.

Based on a true story, “Scorpion” follows computer expert Walter O’Brien (Elyes Gabel) and his team of brilliant techies as they help keep the U.S. safe from high tech threats.

Amid the many executive producers on the show, including “Star Trek” producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, is Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun.

“Scorpion” will return in the fall.

One of the funniest sketches on 'Inside Amy Schumer' took 3 years to finally get on TV

Inside Amy Schumer

Tuesday night marked the season three premiere of "Inside Amy Schumer." In an episode in which every sketch was spot-on and hilarious, arguably the funniest and most notable bit of the night was "Last F----able Day," also the episode's title.

In the sketch, Schumer runs into Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tina Fey, and Patricia Arquette, who are celebrating Louis-Dreyfus's last day that she is considered attractive in the eyes of the media.

It was a long, rocky road for this sketch to get to the air. At a recent panel at the Tribeca Film Festival, Schumer and the show's director, writers, and producers described how the sketch came to be.

"We've been trying to make [this scene] for three years and lots of actresses said 'no,'" Schumer told the crowd.

Inside Amy Schumer Tribeca

The idea originally began to float around the writer's room during season one.

"I think this came about from a conversation we were having in the [writer's] room at some point about actresses like aging out of Hollywood and how that happens and just like women who are seen as the ultimate hottest," writer/executive producer Jessi Klein said.

Once somebody coined the term "last f---able day," the next step was finding actresses who would be willing to star in it.

"It became a journey to find the angels who ended up doing it," Klein added.

Amy Schumer Tribeca

A lot of actresses, whose names were not revealed, said no to doing the sketch. But the quest to find types like Diane Keaton and Mia Farrow carried on.

"We didn't know why those two women wouldn't want to work together," Schumer quipped.

That joke got one of the biggest laughs of the night.

Finally, Schumer got her "dream cast" of Tina Fey, Patricia Arquette, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus all to agree to appear in the sketch. Schumer says she felt the actresses all received the sketch's message loud and clear.

Inside Amy Schumer

"They were kind of outraged by the same stuff that we thought was unfair also," Schumer said.

The actresses also had the chance to improvise and contribute. For instance, Fey came up with the memorable euphemism "white spiders," while Arquette, who is very into crafting, volunteered to make a birdhouse out of diaphragms.

Ben Affleck gives heartfelt apology for trying to cover up his slave-owner ancestry

Ben Affleck PBS Finding Your Roots

Ben Affleck has broken his silence over a controversial decision to leave out an ancestor's history of slave ownership on PBS documentary series, "Finding Your Roots."

"I didn't want any television show about my family to include a guy who owned slaves. I was embarrassed," he wrote on Facebook Tuesday. "The very thought left a bad taste in my mouth."

Affleck's request of show producer Henry Louis Gates, Jr. to exclude his slave-owning ancestor from the program was discovered in emails uncovered in the Sony hack and first reported last week.

Criticism of Affleck's request and PBS's decision to honor it was quickly criticized on social media, newspaper op-ed columns, and by public figures.

In his statement, Affleck confirms that he "lobbied" Gates to exclude the record of his ancestor and expressed regret for doing so.

At the same time, he argued that "Finding Your Roots" isn't a news program, which means his influence on the program shouldn't be viewed similarly to affecting change in a news program with would have more stringent policies on his request to exclude part of the story.

ben affleck finding your roots pbs henry louis gates jr

"I regret my initial thoughts that the issue of slavery not be included in the story," the "Batman Vs. Superman" actor said. "We deserve neither credit nor blame for our ancestors and the degree of interest in this story suggests that we are, as a nation, still grappling with the terrible legacy of slavery. It is an examination well worth continuing."

PBS released a statement on Tuesday stating that it is continuing to look into the decision that excluded Affleck's slave-owning ancestor.

"PBS and WNET are conducting an internal review led by our respective programming teams of the circumstances around 'Finding Your Roots' episode 'Roots of Freedom,'" the network said.

After the initial emails showing the exclusion of Affleck's slave-owning relative, Gates released the following statement explaining that he made the decision based on what was most "interesting.":

"I maintain editorial control on all of my projects and, with my producers, decide what will make for the most compelling program. In the case of Mr. Affleck—we focused on what we felt were the most interesting aspects of his ancestry—including a Revolutionary War ancestor, a 3rd great–grandfather who was an occult enthusiast, and his mother who marched for Civil Rights during the Freedom Summer of 1964."

Will the real Khaleesi please stand up?

Rosie Mac, an 18-year-old British model and actress, has been featured as the stand-in for Daenerys Targaryen, who's played by Emilia Clarke, on HBO's "Game of Thrones." And, boy, did the producers get it right.

Mac started gaining attention when she began posting photos of herself as the Queen of the Dragons from the set of the fantasy drama based on George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels.

According to Metro UK, Mac had been standing in on the show's fifth season. Currently 18 years old, Mac moved to Marbella, Spain, when she was 10 years old.

Although some reports refer to Mac as a stand-in and double for Clarke, an HBO representative told Business Insider that she was only a stand-in.

What's the difference? A stand-in is typically used to set cameras and lighting while the actor is away, while a double is used on camera for stunts, sex scenes, and other scenes actors are unable to do or won't do.

Also, despite what Mac's boss and star of Dublin's "Real Housewives" series, Virginia Macari, told Ireland's Sunday World, don't hold your breath waiting to see Mac in her own role on "Game of Thrones." An individual close to the show told Business Insider that producers may have discussed an extra role for Mac, but it never came to be.

Here's where 'Mad Men' creator Matthew Weiner will be during the show's final episode

intro Mad Men 7 1

Currently in its seventh and final season, "Mad Men" will soon say goodbye after eight years on the air.

When that time comes, the show's creator and writer, Matthew Weiner, says, "I'm pretty sure I'm going to be sad."

Matthew Weiner Jon HammThe 49-year-old spoke to Business Insider at the Time 100 gala, where he explained that in the meantime, he's just trying to live in the moment.

"I'm doing something I don't usually do, I'm trying to really savor these current experiences and the love that I'm getting from people about the show," says Weiner. "I'm hearing things that I always wanted to hear, people telling me what the show means to them, people worried about how I'm doing. I'm just a writer, and I love that this meant something to people."

With a cast and crew that have become like family over the years, Weiner says, "We have all sworn to stay in touch, I'll tell you that. And I think we'll all watch the end of the show together."

Matthew Weiner kiernan shipka mad men janurary jonesBut Weiner usually prefers to watch the show on Sunday nights with a smaller crowd.

"I do like to watch it," Weiner says of his hit AMC show. "I watch it with my family, and we're going to have some viewing parties. But I'm not fun to watch it with. I'm totally intolerant of any conversation."

While Weiner says that the show "does look different when when you see it with other people," he never has any regrets because "I had the chance to do whatever I wanted to do" during filming.

But to this day, Weiner says, "I get anxious on Sundays. For me, it's like a performance."

"It's such a pleasure," Weiner adds of his experience on the show. "Do you know how weird it is to see your name on TV? I haven't gotten over that yet, believe it or not."

Here's how one of the most popular animated shows on late-night TV gets made

$

rb_04

16 years ago Seth Green decided to take his love of action figures and combine it with one of his major passions: stop-motion animation. The idea for Cartoon Network's late-night animated series “Robot Chicken” was born and the animation world suddenly changed.

The success of the show led to the creation of Stoopid Buddy Stoodios in 2012, which Green runs along with “Robot Chicken” co-creator Matthew Senreich and one-time animators on the show, John Harvatine IV and Eric Towner. The move has extended their brand of creative work to commercials, movies (they are responsible for the cool end-credits sequence in “The Lego Movie”) and they were even offered to put their own spin on the iconic opening of “The Simpsons."

But “Robot Chicken” is still the foundation of the company.

If you’ve never seen it, “Robot Chicken” is a stop-motion animated show that has aired on Cartoon Network’s late-night Adult Swim lineup since 2005 and is filled with short sketches featuring raunchy action figures in hilarious situations. Skits include a "Star Wars" Stormtrooper taking his daughter to work or the characters from “The Golden Girls” acting as if they were in an episode of “Sex and the City.”

robot chicken star wars finalThe show not only has a dedicated fanbase, but clout in the industry as it has won three Primetime Emmys.

You may have seen a few of their most popular sketches, like the giraffe stuck in quicksand who's going through the five stages of grief.

For years, Green and Senreich would put the sketches together with their writers and then hand over the creation of sets and action figures for the episodes in the hands of outside companies spanning from California to Florida. But after teaming with Harvatine and Towner to form Stoopid Buddies, they brought everything in-house. Now they work out of a facility in Burbank, California where they oversee close to 170 artists who mainly make up the team that spend close to a year to produce a season of “Robot Chicken.”

According to Green, the biggest revelation in doing the show for so many years is you have to multitask.

“It’s impossible to accomplish a sketch-based episodic show without shooting multiple episodes at the same time,” he told Business Insider. “When we are doing a ‘Robot’ season we’ll have as many as 20 stages operating different sketches from different episodes.”

sb 2sb 6sb 4sb 1Though some things haven’t changed. Green and Senreich still look over every aspect of production, from the skits developed in the writer’s room to the puppets being made.

And then there are the voices for each episode. Usually done by celebrities, though you’d hardly know it as they rarely use their normal speaking voices, the show has accumulated quite a roster. Regulars include Green, Seth MacFarlane, Donald Faison, and Mila Kunis. Guest voices range from Val Kilmer to Vanessa Hudgens.

Green and Senreich always head the voice recording sessions and often track the people down to do them.

“With the voices we have a long list of people we want to get,” Senreich explains. “They are people we’ve run into or we just know they want to do the show. And then there’s the list of people who we need.”

“Somebody who sounds like He-Man, somebody who sounds like Papa Smurf,” Green adds.

But the one person on that list they’ve tried for years to land for the show but with no success has been Harrison Ford.

“We came really close once,” said Senreich. “He was shooting ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ in New Mexico and we got the call a little too late that he might be able to do it if we got out to New Mexico. But we’ll keep trying.”

Stoopid BuddyWith an eighth season of “Robot Chicken” in the works, a DC Comics special on the way, and recent news that the company has signed a deal with the WWE Network to produce a 2D series, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios is thriving. Green and his buddies base their success on the environment they’ve created.

“Years ago Matt and I had this experience where we took this job because we thought it would be a good step [for the company],” Green recalls. “It was miserable, and we wound up never making those projects. After that we were like, Let’s not work with people who we wouldn’t work with for free. That’s the kind of stuff we want to be making.”

Reruns of "Robot Chicken" currently air at midnight on Cartoon Network.

Evil Dead bruce campbell

The original team behind classic horror film "The Evil Dead" have reunited for a revival on Starz.

Writer/director Sam Raimi, producer Rob Tapert, and star Bruce Campbell began production on "Ash vs Evil Dead" this month in Auckland, New Zealand, according to Starz. Raimi is set to direct the pilot episode of the 10-episode first season, which will premiere in Fall 2015.

EDS1_101_042115_0101_100_Comp_a_4x6 SOP RELEASE

Campbell reprises the role of Ash Williams, who's described as the stock boy, aging lothario, and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity, and the terrors of the Evil Dead.

"We have elements of the 'Evil Dead' films, which have very hard-edged, intense horror designed to really frighten the audience," Raimi said of the TV series' tone during a press call on Wednesday. "And no holds barred there. Starz has really taken the reins off of us and allowed us to go to town and thrill the audience, chill them, and scare the heck out of them. But also, there is a comedic element that is alive in this."

When the series catches up with Ash, a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind. And Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal.  Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

"It doesn’t really exist in the exact same universe [as the films]," Tapert said. "It’s a slightly altered universe. It takes place somewhere in an alternate universe after Evil Dead 2. That might seem like a confusing answer, but I don’t want to spoil too much for the audience. That’s the truest answer I can give you."

Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo and Jill Marie Jones also star on the series. Craig DiGregorio ("Workaholics") will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

Evil Dead Promo Photo

The original 1981 film followed Ash and several friends staying in a cabin in Tennessee, where they unwittingly release evil demons with the ability to possess people. Made on the cheap for $375,000, it went on to earn $29.4 million in worldwide box office, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. In the years since, it developed a cult following.

The team would go on to collaborate on two more films in the franchise with 1987's "Evil Dead II" and 1992's "Army of Darkness."

A remake of "The Evil Dead" was released in 2013, but didn't feature Campbell in the lead role nor did Raimi direct. Instead, Fede Alvarez ("Dante's Inferno") directed while Raimi, Tapert and Campbell served as producers on the film.

Here's which 'Full House' cast members are — and are not — returning for Netflix's spinoff show

Original Full House Cast

There's a lot of discussion flying around over who's actually coming back for Netflix's "Full House" spin-off and who isn't.

After weeks of speculation, the deal apparently came through earlier this week and was quickly announced by the original show's star and the spin-off's executive producer, John Stamos.

“Five minutes ago, they called, they sealed the deal,” Stamos revealed while on ABC's "Jimmy Kimell Live" Tuesday. “We’ve been working on this for many, many years."

Stamos will reprise his role as Uncle Jesse. But what about everyone else?

Bob Saget as Danny Tanner — IN NEGOTIATIONS

bob saget full house
The show's original single dad has stayed pretty quiet about the new show. But reports of some kind of reunion have been circling for years and Saget has had plenty of time to comment.

According to Lori Loughlin, who played Jesse's wife Rebecca, Saget is in talks for the show.

Last year, Saget told People that a reunion show was "the farthest thing from my mind that exists." At the same time, he has made appearances with the other cast members in recent years.

Dave Coulier as Joey Gladstone — IN NEGOTIATIONS

full house dave coulier
Is there room for the goofy best friend or will Netflix cut this out?

According to Loughlin, Coulier is also still in talks with Netflix.

The actor and comedian is probably a good bet to return. Like Saget, he has made appearances with other cast members over the years and his recent wedding became a mini "Full House" reunion with Stamos, Saget, Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber, and show creator Jeff Franklin (who's also heading up the spinoff).

Candace Cameron Bure as D.J. Tanner — IN

Twenty years later, D.J. is a veterinarian, has two boys, she's pregnant and, wait for it, recently widowed. Where have we heard this story before?

Jodie Sweetin as Stephanie Tanner — IN

jodie sweetin full house abc
Sweetin will reprise her role as middle sister, Stephanie, she of the "How Rude!" catchphrase. When we meet her again, she's an aspiring musician and will move in with D.J. to help her raise her kids.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen as Michelle Tanner — MIA

full house michelle skitched
The twin millionaire fashionistas, who as babies tag teamed the role of the youngest Tanner daughter, had no idea about the show, according to WWD.

“I ran into Bob [Saget] the other day and we didn’t even talk about it,” said Ashley.

“I’m shocked I haven’t heard from John [Stamos],” said Mary-Kate.

But they're going to get some sage advice from a trusted father figure. “I’m going to call [Saget] and get his perspective,” said Ashley.

Have mercy on Netflix.

Lori Loughlin as Rebecca Katsopolis — IN NEGOTIATIONS

lori loughlin on ABC's full house
Could Uncle Jesse be a bachelor again? It's possible if Loughlin's talks don't end in her signing on to return for "Fuller House." The actress said on Thursday's "Today" that she's optimistic.

"I think it would be awesome to have all of us together, and I think that's what the fans would like to see," Loughlin said.

Andrea Barber as Kimmy Gibbler — IN

Andrea Barber ABC Full House
Hello, what are best friends for? Barber will be back as chatty Kimmy Gibbler, who also moves in to help D.J. out. But she's a single mom with a teenage daughter herself.

Blake and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit as Nicky and Alex Katsopolis — MIA

full house dylan and blake tuomy wilhoit
After three seasons of playing Uncle Jess and Rebecca's sons, the twins seem to have moved on from acting. Blake is a firefighter in Atlanta, according to Bustle.

And Alex is still working in Hollywood as a sound editor. In fact, he and the "Game of Thrones" sound team were nominated for an Emmy in 2014.

So it's not looking good for their return.

On Friday, Bruce Jenner confirmed that "for all intents and purposes, I am a woman" in a bombshell interview with Diane Sawyer.

When Sawyer asked Jenner if his sexual preference has also changed, the 65-year-old Olympian-turned-reality TV star explained: "I am not gay. As far as I know, I am heterosexual. I've never been with a guy, I've always been married, raising kids."

But Sawyer pressed on, asking, "If you're assigned male and you become a female, but you like women, are you a lesbian?"

"You're going back to the sex thing and it's apples and oranges," Jenner responded. "Sexuality is who you're attracted to, but gender identity is about who you identify with."

"So much confusion," added Jenner.

Sawyer later said vai voiceover that ABC News spoke to both transgender people and experts who explained that "sexual desire and gender are two different things."

"Right now," says Jenner, "let's just say I'm asexual."

"There’s two different things here," Jenner explained. “Sexuality is who you personally are attracted to — who turns you on — male or female. But gender identity has to do with who you are as a person and your soul, and who you identify with inside."

Jenner has previously been married three times and has six biological children.

Bruce Jenner

Amid much speculation, E! has officially announced that it will document Bruce Jenner's life as a transgender woman with a new reality show.

The still untitled series will consist of eight one-hour episodes set to premiere on Sunday, July 26 at 9 p.m.

“Bruce is incredibly courageous and an inspiration, and we are proud to be entrusted with this deeply personal and important story,” said Jeff Olde, E!'s executive vice president of programming and development, in a statement on Friday.

He continued, “This series will present an unfiltered look as Bruce boldly steps into uncharted territory and is true to himself for the first time.”

The series will be produced by Bunim/Murray Productions, the same company behind E!'s "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" franchise. Jenner will serve as an executive producer alongside Gil Goldschein, Jeff Jenkins, Farnaz Farjam and Andrea Metz.

Bruce JennerAdditionally, E! has brought on several consultants with expertise in Transgender issues as show consultants. They include GLAAD's national co-chair for its board of directors, Jennifer Finney Boylan; the Los Angeles Gender Center’s founder and director, Dr. Marie Keller, and the center's director of child and adolescent services, Susan P. Landon.

E! announced the new series on the heels of Jenner's much-anticipated interview  with ABC News' Diane Sawyer on Friday evening. During the interview, the 65-year-old Olympian-turned-reality star sat down with Sawyer and confirmed "for all intents and purposes, I am a woman."

Over the past year and after divorcing Kardashian momager Kris Jenner earlier this year, Jenner began appearing less on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and was noticeably absent from the family's reported $100 million dollar contract renewal with E! in February.
