Netflix has more original series and classic TV shows than the average person can keep up with. To help parse through the options, Insider is here to recommend five shows that are actually worth your time this week.
First up is Netflix's original animated series debuting its third season on Friday.
'Big Mouth'

Seasons: 3
Episodes: 31
"Big Mouth" is a raunchy, R-rated animated series that you should watch as far away from your parents as possible. It's funny, weird, gross, extremely relatable and relevant, and the most sex-positive show on TV right now.
Everyone from teenagers to retirees can relate to the subplots about puberty, sex, masturbation, shame, depression, anxiety, and the struggles of just getting through life. The 20-minute episodes make it easy to binge, and the series only gets better with its second and third seasons.

'Scandal'

Seasons: 7
Episodes: 124
If you want a longer-format drama to lose yourself in, ABC's "Scandal" is a dishy and soap-opera-esque series which follows "fixer" Olivia Pope through the twists and turns of politics in Washington DC.
Given our real-world political news cycle right now, it might be helpful for your brain to escape into Shonda Rhimes' vision of DC and its underbelly of scandal for a bit.

'Surviving R. Kelly'

Seasons: 1
Episodes: 6
This award-winning Lifetime docu-series aired earlier this year, and is now streaming on Netflix. "Surviving R. Kelly" is a powerful and heartbreaking look at the abuse allegations made against the singer, and the impact it had on the lives of many, many women.
'BoJack Horseman'

Seasons: 5
Episodes: 60
Another Netflix original animated series, "BoJack Horseman" is one of the most critically beloved shows on the streaming service. Following a washed-up actor as he tries to reclaim a place in the Hollywood landscape, "BoJack Horseman" ambitiously manages to be both funny and dark.
This is a can't-miss show for any Netflix subscriber. With the sixth and final season approaching, now is the time to either catch up or rewatch "BoJack Horseman."

'The West Wing'

Seasons: 7
Episodes: 156
NBC's "The West Wing" (which aired from 1999 to 2006) is one of the greatest political dramas of all time, and you can watch the entire series on Netflix right now. Now a time capsule of a different era, "The West Wing" is a gripping, fictionalized ideation of how the behind-the-scenes world of the White House operates.
