Derek Hough has a lot of respect for Jennifer Lopez, his fellow judge and his boss on NBC's "World of Dance."
"She’s just wonderful, she’s a great person, she’s very maternal, she’s very loving. You can definitely get that from her," Hough told INSIDER recently when we asked him to weigh in on Lopez ahead of her 48th birthday on Monday.
While Hough, 32, and Lopez are fellow judges on the reality dance competition, she's also his boss. Lopez is one of the executive producers of the show. But Hough says she doesn't throw her weight around the set.
"The thing is it doesn’t really feel like she's my boss, because when she’s judging, she’s judging with us, so it doesn’t really feel like that for me personally, which is a good thing," Hough said. "She’s part of the team and she’s great at what she does."
There is something that Hough does notice about JLo: She looks really great at 48.
"She looks better than all of us. She’s like a unicorn that’s aging backgrounds," he said.
