Summer TV is a funny thing. While most cable and network programming screeches to a halt, a truly captivating series can seriously blow up- especially with most TV audiences free to explore different shows. We've seen this trend in shows like Game of Thrones and Orange is the New Black, and Netflix once again hit the jackpot this past summer with the 80's sci-fi adventureStranger Things. The Duffer Brothers' creation was the breakout hit of the summer, with high viewership, great reviews, as well as accruing a rabid fanbase that has catapulted the series to pop culture royalty. With Season 2 beginning production, many fans have been wondering what the sophomore season would include, but now we have a clue.
Stranger Things director Shawn Levy recently spoke with Collider about where everything stands regarding the series' second season. When speaking about the overall plot, Levy revealed the following:
"Will Byers was in that Upside Down for a while. So Season 2 is about this determined desire to return to normalcy in Hawkins, in the Byers family, in that group of friends, and it's the struggle to reclaim normalcy and maybe the impossibility of it."
There we go, people. With all of our main characters now experienced in the supernatural (besides Mike's clueless mom), going back to "normal" ain't gonna be easy.
The first season of Stranger Things ended on a surprisingly happy note. A month passed in Hawkins, Indiana and all seemed to be right with the world. The four boys are once again playing Dungeons and Dragons in Mike's basement, but this time they win their campaign. Christmas has come to the little town, with all of the protagonists happily celebrating the season. Nancy and Steve are back together, they replace Jonathan's camera, and things are strangely normal.
