The flashiest parts of "Game of Thrones" may be the dragons and epic fantasy battles, but the dialogue between its hundreds of characters is the real meat of the show. There's a ton of talking in Westeros, and one extremely dedicated fan sat through the entire series and counted how many lines every character had.
Redditor WalterEagle crunched the numbers, and came up with a listing of the 100 characters with the most lines in the show, according to his count.
"A line is any uninterrupted dialogue until someone else talks or the scene or conversation changes; the number of times each person talks," the Redditor explained. "I do it while I watch and it is not very time consuming beyond entering the number in Excel for 5 minutes to add them up after each season."
In the event of a tie, the character who appeared in more episodes is listed higher up.
The full list is below, but here is some trivia WalterEagle noted:
- Tyrion had the most lines in the first five seasons, but only the third-most in season six.
- Ned Stark has the most lines out of any dead character, although he added more to his total during the flashback scenes in season six (surpassing Tywin Lannister from beyond the grave in the process).
- Khal Drogo had the fewest lines by a credited regular
- Olenna Tyrell had the most lines by a guest star
