"The Walking Dead" season six finale introduced fan favorite Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a charming, cursing leader of a group of survivors. Fans were concerned about how the character could be adapted for television. After all, he drops the f-bomb just about every other word.
When Negan was first introduced, the character was slightly watered down for television. "The Walking Dead" crew remedied that for fans by shooting an alternate version of his entry onto the series that will be available August 23.
During a press conference for the series at San Diego Comic-Con, a reporter asked how they will continue to handle Negan scenes on the series. Showunner Scott Gimple confirmed that they will continue to film two versions for uncensored language.
"Yes, we will," Gimple told the crowd of reporters. "Not every scene. It's the notable stuff."
"Key scenes," added creator Robert Kirkman.
"We're not doing two takes of every scene where we just add the word f---," joked Gimple.
"We really want to do that to Jeffrey, but we decided not to," said Kirkman.
We're sure Morgan would have been a good sport. After all, he's been waiting for this role for some time and he did show up to "The Walking Dead" Comic-Con panel in costume. Unfortunately, we'll probably have to wait until the season 7 Blu-ray and DVD for a completely uncensored Negan.
"The Walking Dead"will return October 23 to AMC.
