Between Daenerys unleashing her dragon trio upon her enemies and Jon Snow's bloody showdown with Ramsay Bolton, Sunday's "Game of Thrones" was probably the show's most action-packed episode yet.
Fans are also calling it the show's finest episode of television. It's currently the highest-rated episode of "Game of Thrones" on IMDB with a perfect 10/10 rating from over 29,000 voters and counting.
And it appears the showrunners agree: Season six episode nine is the only episode of the season that HBO submitted for the Emmys for both directing and writing.
It's also the highest-rated "Game of Thrones" episode to date, surpassing fan-favorite episodes like "Hardhome" (season five, episode 8) and "The Rains of Castamere" (season 3, episode 9), better known as The Red Wedding.
Take a look at this chart from Graph TV, a site which organizes show data according to its IMDB ratings.
While diehard fans were also generally pleased with the episode, some critiqued moments in the episode that didn't hold together. For instance, why didn't Ramsay have any scouts prepped to know about the oncoming onslaught from the Vale? Why did Rickon Stark run in a straight line when trying to escape the Bolton army and not zigzag to avoid the arrows?
What did you think of "Battle of the Bastards"? Will Sunday's "Game of Thrones" finale be as well-received?
