Yara Greyjoy ocean Game of ThronesWarning: Spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones" season six, including future events.

After lurking offscreen since season three, Balon Grejoy and the Iron Islands were featured in Sunday's episode, "Home." Not only were viewers quickly reintroduced to Balon and his daughter Yara, but the showrunners threw in a new and mysterious character (who promptly killed Balon).

Confused about who they are?

Here's a quick reminder to catch you up on everything to know about the Iron Islanders who are about to make waves in season six.

Balon Greyjoy was the head of House Greyjoy and ruler of the Iron Islands.

House Greyjoy's sigil is kraken, and their house words are "We do not sow." The Ironborn are a proud people, who live by an ethos based on taking what they want and not relying on gold or agrarian practices to get food on their table.

Twice in his life, Balon named himself King and tried to break the Iron Islands away from the rest of the united Seven Kingdoms in Westeros.

The first time was back during Robert's Rebellion, when Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark led the charge to usurp the Targaryen throne. Robert and Ned's forces defeated Balon, killing his two eldest sons in the process.

Pyke, the name of both an island and the Greyjoy castle, is home to the Seastone Chair — a sort of pseudo-throne.

In "Home," Yara refers to the Seastone Chair as the Salt Throne. According to Ironborn traditions, women do not typically inherit the Salt Throne.
