The second half of Sunday's "The Walking Dead" placed a number of characters in danger when a storm of Negan's Saviors caught Daryl (Norman Reedus) and some of the survivors off guard.

Fans of both the show and the comic may have been surprised to see the return of a character seen in the first half of season six.

Did you recognize the man leading this group of Saviors?

We first saw him in season six, episode six. Daryl decided to keep him alive. He even invited Dwight back to Alexandria. But by the end of the episode, the man turned on Daryl, making off with his crossbow and motorcycle. At the start of Sunday's episode, we see that this decision has been weighing on Daryl's mind as he confides in Carol. He mentions the nameless fellow and says that he should have killed him.

Daryl's probably going to regret that choice now since the man ended up being responsible for Denise's abrupt and unexpected death Sunday.

Though he was nameless back in episode six, it was later confirmed that actor Austin Amelio was indeed playing Dwight, a pretty important character from Robert Kirkman's comic series of the same name.

Dwight is one of Negan's right-hand men in the comic.

When we last saw Dwight on the show, it was clear he was trying to get as far away as possible from Negan and the Saviors. Clearly, something happened to change his mind.

Here's how Dwight appears when we're introduced to him in the comics:

As you can see, half of his face is pretty badly burned.

Sunday night, you may have recognized Dwight was showing off similar burns to his comic book counterpart. In the comics, we learn Dwight's face was burned by Negan, most likely for having an affair with one of Negan's many wives. (Yeah, Negan's a real riot.)

We bet Negan or Negan's men found Dwight while he was trying to escape and this may have been Dwight's punishment for going against the Saviors.

Either way, this definitely will not be the last we see of this character.
