Trevor Noah to miss 'Daily Show' after emergency surgery

Trevor Noah is going to miss his first episode of "The Daily Show."

The rookie host underwent an emergency surgery early Wednesday morning and the Comedy Central series will air an encore to give the host time to recuperate. Comedy Central expects Noah to return to work Thursday and plans to air a new episode as scheduled.

Director David Holbrooke was poised to be Wednesday's guest, with Emmy winning actress Regina King ("American Crime,""The Leftovers") set to appear Thursday.
