This will be Breaking Bad's final year to win an Emmy Award, and to mark the occasion, Emmy nominee Aaron Paul is conducting a Breaking Bad scavenger hunt for those fans in the Hollywood area.
Check out the post he shared on Instagram announcing the Los Angeles-set hunt:
Yeah, bitch.
Aaron Paul says he'll be conducting the scavenger hunt "around LA on Monday" before the 66th Emmy Awards take place. Among the prizes are signed Breaking Bad scripts, posters, dolls, action figures and Breaking Bad art. As for where fans can find these items, they'll be hidden around the Hollywood area. That's presumably in public places, but he doesn't get specific in terms of location beyond the general area. Still, it sounds like a fun event for Hollywood locals looking to celebrate the AMC drama ahead of its last Emmy awards.
Breaking Bad topped previous years by earning itself a whopping 16 Emmy nominations this year. Via Emmys.com, here's the breakdown of nominations and wins for the AMC series since the first year it was eligible (2008):
2014 – 16 nominations
2013 – 13 nominations, 3 wins
2012 – 13 nominations, 1 win
2011 – 0 nominations, 0 wins
2010 – 7 nominations, 2 wins
2009 – 5 nominations, 2 wins
2008 – 4 nominations, 2 wins
Total: 58 nominations, 10 wins
Breaking Bad won for Outstanding Drama Series in 2013, and it would be great to see it win that one again for the second half of its final season, but it has some steep competition this year, particularly against newcomer True Detective. The HBO drama not only has a lot of buzz going for it, being one of the better new dramas to air in the last year, but it's also likely fresher in people's minds, as Breaking Bad's final season wrapped up last summer, close to a year ago. Not only is Breaking Bad up againstTrue Detective, but it also has Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Mad Men andDownton Abbey up against it.
In the Actor categories, Bryan Cranston faces off against Kevin Spacey (House of Cards), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom) and True Detective stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. As a "Supporting" actor, Aaron Paul doesn't have any True Detective Competition, but he's up against Jim Carter (Downton Abbey), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Josh Charles (The Good Wife), Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) and Jon Voight (Ray Donovan). That's a lot of talent for two categories!
Regardless of how many statues Breaking Bad manages to take home for the second half of its final season, the series had an outstanding run, and one that fans won't soon forget. It helps that we have Aaron Paul running scavenger hunts and participating in hilarious viral videos with Bryan Cranston to remind us of how much we miss the series.
