Television shows provide numerous outlets for some perfectly unexpected celebrity cameos.

Whether stars are playing themselves, like Kris Jenner on "The Mindy Project," or are showing their acting chops, like Britney Spears on "How I Met Your Mother," it's always a joy to recognize a celebrity on your favorite show.

Here are 21 unexpected guest appearances made by celebrities on TV. 

Britney Spears has had a number of fun cameos throughout the years, including on "How I Met Your Mother."

Spears played a receptionist who fell in love with Ted and ended up briefly engaged to Barney during a two-episode stint on the third season.

Some other shows she has made cameos on include "Sabrina the Teenage Witch,""Glee," and "Jane the Virgin." 

Kesha popped up on "Jane the Virgin."

The musician played Jane's rude neighbor who kept blasting her music and having band practice late at night, messing with baby Mateo's sleep schedule.

Pete Wentz, from Fall Out Boy, made an appearance on "One Tree Hill" with the band and solo.

Fall Out Boy performed twice on the show, but Wentz formed a connection with Peyton and joined the girls on a weekend trip to the woods. They started a relationship, but it ended when Peyton used a plane ticket he bought her to visit an ex.

Apple's push into original TV programming is set to explode — at some point in the near future. 

The company had a brief, initial run of shows last summer with the release of the unscripted series "Planet of the Apps" and "Carpool Karaoke." 

But Apple drastically shifted its course in June when it hired former Sony Pictures Television presidents Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg to head its original programming.

Since then, the company has announced the production or development of 12 original, scripted series — including a biographical drama on NBA all-star Kevin Durant's youth, and its first animated show, from the creator of "Bob's Burgers."

None of those 12 upcoming series has a release date yet.

"Amazing Stories"

The Wall Street Journal reported in October that Apple's first move under its new programming heads, Van Amburg and Erlicht, would be to revive Steven Spielberg's sci-fi and horror anthology series "Amazing Stories," which aired on NBC in the late 1980s. 

WSJ reported that Apple signed a deal with Spielberg's Amblin Television and Universal Television to produce 10 new episodes of the series, with Bryan Fuller (the creator of NBC's "Hannibal") as its showrunner.

Fuller left the series in February, however. A source told Variety that Fuller parted "amicably," and that Fuller's vision for the show did not match the "more family-friendly approach" that Apple reportedly sought.

Untitled Reese Witherspoon/Jennifer Aniston morning show drama series

In November, Apple announced that it ordered two ten-episode seasons of a drama series that is set in the world of morning-TV talk shows and stars Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston. 

Variety reported that the series will draw from CNN senior media correspondent Brian Stelter's 2013 book "Top of the Morning," which recounted the morning-TV rivalry between NBC's "Today" and ABC's "Good Morning America."

Jay Carson ("House of Cards") is writing the pilot and will serve as showrunner. It will be produced by Michael Ellenberg's Media Res studio, Aniston's Echo Films, and Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine production company.

• AMC's "The Walking Dead" recently killed off Rick's son Carl (Chandler Riggs) from the show.
• It was a surprise move because the character is still alive in the comics. 
• After surviving numerous gunshot wounds on the show, Carl was ultimately killed by a walker bite to the gut.
• Riggs has poked fun at the way his character died on social media. 
• He told INSIDER before the show's mid-season premiere he's not bitter about how he left the show.
• The actor continues to throw shade at the silly way he was killed.

"The Walking Dead" actor Chandler Riggs may say there are no hard feelings over the way his character was killed off on the show's mid-season premiere in February, but his tweets about the AMC series continue to hint otherwise. 

In a series of four tweets, Riggs called out the silly way his character Carl ended up dying on the series Monday. After surviving close calls with cannibals, an unruly biker gang, Negan, and a gunshot wound to the face, Carl was bit by one of the undead after tripping and falling in the woods. 

"me @ carl when he died from tripping over a tree root after proving numerous times that he's great at at [sic] surviving," Riggs wrote with accompanying photos of himself making faces.

"like dude u literally got shot in the head," Riggs added. 

Fans were incredibly supportive telling him his death was a mistake. 

Carl's character is still alive in the comic series. He doesn't show any signs of an upcoming death so his show death came as a surprise to the fandom. 

This isn't the first time Riggs has poked fun at the way his character went out on the show. 

Weeks before his onscreen show death, Riggs tweeted about the embarrassing way his character wound up bit by a zombie. 

"When u spend like 3 years in the apocalypse but die bc you tripped and fell," he wrote. 

He tweeted a few days later after the Super Bowl using the meme of the selfie kid who went viral. 

His tweets make it easy to look like the star is holding a bit of a grudge against the AMC series. If you're familiar with Riggs' sense of humor, you know he's been making jokes at the show's expense for some time on social media. 

Ahead of the "Walking Dead" mid-season premiere in February, Riggs said despite any jabs he tweets about, he's not bitter about how his character left the show. 

"I like my jokes, but I'm not really bitter about it," Riggs told INSIDER when asked about his tweets in February.

"When [the December mid-season finale] first aired, the amount of messages that I got on Reddit and the amount of comments that I got on Instagram and then Twitter and everything, it was really just kind of overwhelming with just the amount of support coming from fans that were super sad to see my character go," Riggs continued. "But the majority of them were just really, really excited to see where I go next and that's kind of the attitude that I had towards it and I'm really happy that a lot of my fans have the same attitude towards it as well."

• Season 16 of ABC's rebooted "American Idol" has been receiving mixed reactions from viewers, mainly due to judge Katy Perry's actions.  
• Many people are slamming Perry for flirting and kissing male contestants like Benjamin Glaze and Trevor Holmes, saying that if fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan tried to do the same thing, they would be criticized and accused of sexual harassment. 
• Others found Perry's flirting "funny," and Perry joked about the moments in some of her tweets.  

"American Idol" has received mixed responses from viewers, with many people finding Katy Perry's actions entertaining, and others saying she is being distasteful in light of sexual harassment and the "Me Too" movement. 

During the season 16 premiere of the TV show, Perry sparked discussion in regards to sexual harassment and consent when she unexpectedly kissed a male contestant on the lips.

She initially asked the contestant, Benjamin Glaze, to kiss her on the cheek and quickly turned her head to kiss him on the lips. Viewers found the moment"inappropriate" and argued that if the roles were reversed and fellow judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, or even former judge Simon Cowell tried to do the same thing, people would be outraged.

Perry didn't seem to find anything wrong with kissing Glaze, as seen in her tweets.

Perry was once again under fire after Monday night's episode aired and she flirted with a contestant.

During the episode, Perry made a comment about not being in a relationship.

But Bryan may have jokingly voiced what viewers were feeling about Perry's manner toward male contestants: "Let's call it what it is, Katy is looking for a date. She is using this as eharmony."

At another part of the episode, a contestant named Trevor Holmes walked into the audition room and Bryan declared him a "dreamboat." Perry agreed, saying that her "eyes lit up," and she interrupted Holmes to tell him that she thought he was "so hot."

She added that "only hot guys are named Trevor." When Holmes called Perry "ma'am" because he respects her, she told him: "Don't respect me."

She said that if Holmes didn't make it to the Hollywood round, he could just hang out with her. In addition, Perry asked Holmes if he was engaged, and he said he wasn't. But he had a girlfriend. 

During his audition, Holmes included Perry's first name in the lyrics and she was speechless after his performance.

Holmes added that Perry had been his longtime crush. All the while, Bryan and Richie proceeded to give him constructive feedback and put him through to the next round of the competition. 

Afterwards, Holmes' girlfriend entered the room, congratulated him, and kissed him as Perry jokingly ran away. 

People criticized Perry for being flirtatious with attractive contestants, and called the show "sexist." 

Others found Perry to be "funny," and like this season's judging panel.

Perry even referred to the recent episode as the "dreamboat episode."

Others just want the show to focus more on the music, since it's a singing competition.

It's still winter in most of the United States, but spring television shows are quickly coming our way, which means that no matter how much better the weather gets, you still have plenty of valid reasons to stay inside. 

We put together a list of all the notable new and returning shows coming in the next couple months, and let you know whether or not you should watch them.

The lineup for spring 2018 is pretty promising, but thankfully isn't overwhelming with shows you must watch. Some of the best dramas are starting new seasons including HBO's "Westworld," Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale," and the final season of FX's "The Americans."

Spring 2018 isn't bringing us that many new shows to be excited about, besides  FX's drama "Trust" starring Donald Sutherland, Brendan Fraser, and Hillary Swank. It's a show about the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III, but unlike "All the Money in the World," Christopher Plummer will not be replacing anyone in it at the last minute. 

Here are all of the notable shows premiering in Spring 2018, and whether or not you should watch them:

Should you watch it: Skip it. There's a lot of legal dramas, and this one doesn't stand out. 

• Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore play married couple Jack and Rebecca Pearson on NBC's hit "This Is Us."
• The drama follows their family's lives across multiple generations. 
• It will also make you cry.
• Ventimiglia tells INSIDER he and Moore watch each episode together.
• When they're done, they talk about the episode, what they liked, and what they can do better to improve.
• He admits they both get emotional watching the show, but insists that Mandy Moore cries harder during their viewing sessions.

As if NBC's "This Is Us" didn't already make us love the bond between Jack and Rebecca Pearson on TV enough, here's another reason to love the duo offscreen. 

Milo Ventimiglia says he and co-star Mandy Moore sit and watch every episode of the show together, or just about every episode. 

"Every episode, yes," Ventimiglia told INSIDER. "Since the beginning, we've watched from pilot all the way until the current episode."

He admits they may have missed an episode here or there, but the two watch it each week and then use the viewing sessions as a learning experience moving forward. 

"I think we've missed two episodes watching it together, but it's one of those moments where we do the work together so we get to watch the work together, but also talk about the work after the fact," he said. "I get to sit with my friend and watch the show, but on top of that, it's good for us, playing this married couple, to understand where we can do better or things that we enjoy or just being able to talk about the other works of the cast or the crew."

And in case you're wondering, yes, they also cry while watching the show. And they're prepared with tissues for the expected onslaught of tears. 

"Oh, totally. 100%," said Ventimiglia who divulged which of the two cry harder. "Mandy. I would say Mandy would. We're both pretty emotional when we watch the show. We usually watch it in [creator] Dan Fogelman's office and that screening room it's pretty stacked with Kleenex and tissues so we're OK."

Co-star Sterling K. Brown, who plays one of the Pearson's sons, also recently told us he typically will "cry like a baby" when he watches the show. 

Ventimiglia said he wasn't surprised to hear that. 

"Sterling's very emotional," he said. (That's something Brown confirmed on his recent "Saturday Night Live" monologue.)

The "This Is Us" season two finale airs on NBC Tuesday at 9 p.m. and will feature an older Jack Pearson. You can read about how he transformed for finale episode here.

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for the season two finale of "This Is Us."

Now that the mystery of Jack Pearson's death is long behind us, what else can "This Is Us" do to pull at fan's heartstrings heading into season three?

Plenty. 

Instead of flashbacks, Tuesday's "This Is Us" finale teased a series of small, perplexing flash-forwards. Several appeared to be about a year in the future and another with Randall may be as far as a decade down the line. 

From a somber looking Toby to a traveling Kevin, we have a lot of questions and we're sure you do too. While we're waiting for the show to return in fall 2018, let's break down every question we have from the flash-forward scenes teased on the season two finale.

What is going on with Toby?

Toby is looking quite unlike his chipper self.

Kate walks in on Toby curled up in bed and tells him that the doctor wants to see him to discuss adjusting his medication. Our best guess is that he may have slipped into a depression.

On the season two finale, his parents hinted Toby had problems fighting depression after his first marriage fell apart and we're thinking he may have had a setback.

"You stopped going to work and I found you in your apartment in the middle of a work day with the curtains drawn and hiding under the covers like a little kid," Toby's mother tells him. "You were severely depressed for a very long time."

The way she describes him is exactly how we see Toby in the flash-forward.

Who are Tess and Randall going to see?

We previously saw a future version of Randall visiting his daughter Tess as a social worker. But there's more going on here. The two of them discuss a difficult meeting they have to make with a woman they refer to as her. 

It’s time to go see her Tess," 

I’m not ready.

"Me neither," replies Randall. 

Who are they talking about? The women in their life can refer to Tess' sister, Annie, her foster sister, Deja, or her mother Beth. The scene could also be talking about Randall's sister Kate or his mother, Rebecca.

However, a lot of fans think that something may happen to Beth in the future. After future Tess and Randall speak the scene cuts to Beth. 

And the way Randall says "It's time to go see her" makes it sound like someone is either in a hospital bed gravely ill or injured or has died. 

Who is the woman Kevin is with?

As Randall says that we don't know where we'll be in a year from now, we see Kevin on a plane to Vietnam with a woman who may or may not be his girlfriend. She's resting her head on him and he gives her a gentle kiss on the head.

But who is she?

All we know is that Kevin meets her at the end of Kate's wedding. The mystery lady gives Kevin some kudos on a speech well done.

• The season two finale promo for "This Is Us" teased an older Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia).
• Fans were confused because Jack died on the show in the prime of his life.
• Ventimiglia told INSIDER it took three hours for him to transform into the Jack you see in the season two finale.
• He wore prosthetics, a lot of makeup, and a wig and goatee. That wasn't all his own facial hair.
• There are spoilers ahead for the season two finale.

The season finale promo for "This Is Us" surprised fans when it teased an older Jack Pearson with gray hair and not even star Milo Ventimiglia saw it coming. 

"I never thought we were going to get an older version of Jack," Ventimiglia told INSIDER. "It was exciting."

Ventimiglia's character died earlier this season from a heart attack brought about from too much smoke inhalation in a house fire, so it was unexpected to see a present-day Jack at his daughter's wedding. 

On Tuesday's episode, fans learned it wasn't a "what-if" scenario. It was all part of a recurring dream Kate kept having before her wedding day of her parents' 40th wedding anniversary if Jack never died.

What did it take to transform papa Pearson into a 70-something year old man?

"The process is about three hours to put on and then it's about an hour to take off," said Ventimiglia. "I've seen Mandy [Moore] go through it quite a bit this season and we saw Sterling go through it, so I felt like I earned a stripe being able to say I'm now playing an aged version of Jack." 

Sterling K. Brown, who plays Randall on the NBC series was aged quite a few years recently in a brief flash-forward. Brown recently told INSIDER it takes him three hours to transform into his older counterpart. 

Although we know the 40-year-old actor can grow a beard and has a great head of hair, Ventimiglia says his transformation involves putting on a wig and some fake facial hair. 

"There's a lot of painting a skin tone and then there are prosthetics and, of course, because I've got a lot of different facial hair looks in the show, we had to add the goatee and then there's a wig on top of all that and glasses," he said. "Then you put the clothes and everything in there and transform into a gentleman in his 70s."

Ventimiglia was a little taken aback with the results.

"It was interesting. It was both inspiring and enlightening — inspiring to see this older version of a man that the audience has embraced so much, and enlightening just thinking, 'Wow, I wonder the life that's been lived to earn the wrinkles, to earn the gray, to earn the eyesight that narrows,'" he said.

Unfortunately, as viewers know, we'll have to just imagine that life.

Pearson's death earlier this season came partially as the result of Jack and Rebecca forgetting to pick up batteries, something that seemed silly, but that Ventimiglia says is relatable.

"It seemed, dare I say it, right?" Ventimiglia said of the simple mistake that ultimately led to Jack's demise. "There are these things that we get so occupied in life with that become the most impactful of our lives. Something as simple as Jack and Rebecca forgetting batteries at the mall contributes to Jack's death."

For that reason, the "This Is Us" actor fittingly partnered with Duracell to remind others to check and change the batteries in their smoke detectors.

If you're currently missing the Pearson dad on "This Is Us," Ventimiglia assured us there's more of his character to come.

"Oh we will [see Jack]," Ventimiglia said, though he didn't divulge which incarnation of his character we'll see on season three. "Absolutely. Definitely."

"This Is Us" will air its season two finale on NBC Tuesday, March 13 at 9 p.m.

• Netflix is reportedly planning to make a weekly TV news magazine show like CBS' "60 Minutes" and ABC's "20/20," according to MarketWatch.
• A TV-executive source told the outlet that the Netflix is "proceeding with caution" to enter the TV news business with a "sharp, balanced" weekly show.
• The potential TV news show would be the first of its kind for the streaming service. 

Netflix is reportedly planning to make a weekly TV news magazine show to rival CBS' "60 Minutes" and ABC's "20/20," according to MarketWatch.

A TV executive who worked with Netflix on a recent documentary series told MarketWatch that the streaming service is "proceeding with caution" to enter the TV news business with a "sharp, balanced" weekly show.

"Netflix have spotted a hole in the market for a current affairs TV show encompassing both sides of the political divide and are seeking to fill it," the source told the outlet, speaking on the condition of anonymity. 

"Netflix are proceeding with caution over this because they're well aware that most new current affairs shows underwhelm and are expensive," the source continued. "They want to make their show economically viable without compromising the production costs and newsgathering operation."

Though Netflix has released a number of talk shows from comedians like David Letterman, Chelsea Handler, and Joel McHale (to varying degrees of success), the potential TV news show would be the first of its kind for the streaming service. 

Netflix has said it will spend over $8 billion on original content in 2018, and a TV news program is the latest reported project that signals a more political-oriented bent to its original content.

The New York Times reported last week that former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama are also in talks to produce content for Netflix, which will focus on "the power of storytelling to inspire."

• Penelope Blossom went into sex work to support her family on The CW's "Riverdale." 
• Actress Nathalie Boltt spoke with INSIDER about her character's career choice.
• She said it was a conscious choice.
• She also described how it affects Penelope's relationship with her daughter. 

"Riverdale" fans were shocked when Penelope Blossom turned to sex work following her husband's death, becoming a self-identified "courtesan" and bringing clients into her own home. But her new career path was a conscious choice.

"Once she lost not only her husband, but her entire status, I thought, 'Well what is Penelope qualified to do?'" Nathalie Boltt, who plays the Blossom matriarch on The CW drama, told INSIDER.

"I thought it would be great if she had a secret skill or some amazing degree from a high-standing university, but ... I actually discussed with the showrunner, 'Well what if she's only qualified to do the oldest profession in the world?"

Penelope and her daughter Cheryl fall on hard times with the loss of the family business and Clifford's death. After a fight, Cheryl purchases a Christmas tree and expensive gifts to get back at her mother. Cheryl tells her mom to get creative about making money to support the family, but the path her mother chooses isn't exactly what Cheryl had in mind. 

Cheryl finds her mother making out with a man on their living room couch Christmas morning, and that's just the start of her sexual escapades. As Penelope makes enough money to pay off the family debt, she continues to work because she enjoys it. 

"I thought it would be such an interesting development considering how the Blossoms, particularly in season one ... were kind of like this wannabe royal family," Boltt said. "I quite like it, and I'd like to see Penelope claw her way back in some way because she's so damned determined." 

But her choices affect her daughter. Cheryl struggles with the knowledge that her mother is bringing a new man to the house every night. And on top of making her daughter uncomfortable, Penelope is also emotionally abusive and manipulative.

The contentious relationship between mother and daughter also affects the fans, Bolt explained. 

"I think the more Penelope shows herself to be a bad mother, the more people kind of understand and sympathize with Cheryl," she said. "It has a cool dynamic of understanding Cheryl and relating to a teenager who is so embarrassed by their parents."

Ultimately, Penelope just wants her status back and will do what she can to get there, Boltt explained. 

"Penelope is extremely power hungry. She wants to be seen, and she wants to be a top player in Riverdale as she was," Boltt said. "People who have status just through material wealth think that it makes them better than people, but does it? Does it make you better because you have more stuff? So when your stuff gets taken away, then what are you? So for Penelope, I think she wants to get her status back, but she doesn't know how."

"Roseanne" is returning to ABC at the end of March.

In its first nine seasons, the outspoken matriarch of the Conner clan rubbed elbows with the likes of George Clooney and Bruce Willis all while tackling unemployment and pinching pennies to raise her dysfunctional middle-class family. 

The list of celebrity guest stars goes all the way to the show's first season in 1988. While some of them were big names in their own right playing themselves, some celebrities appeared on the show before they were big like Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Even a few stars from ABC hit "Grey's Anatomy" appeared alongside the Conners.

Before the show's season 10 premiere, take a look back at the famous faces who have shown up in Lanford, Illinois.

Leonardo DiCaprio was one of Darlene's classmates in a home economics class.

When Roseanne went to Darlene's class to talk about being a homemaker, DiCaprio could be seen sitting next to Darlene. 

Joseph Gordon-Levitt played a new friend of DJ's who liked to ramble.

George was the new kid at school on season five who DJ and the rest of his family got easily annoyed with.

George Clooney was Jackie and Roseanne's original boss, Booker Brooks, at Wellman Plastics.

Brooks started dating Jackie and failed at keeping it a secret.

His last appearance was on season four during a Halloween episode where he dressed up as a moose.

• Benjamin Glaze, the "American Idol" contestant who Katy Perry kissed during his season 16 audition, shared his thoughts on the controversial moment that aired on ABC on Sunday night's episode.

During the season 16 premiere of the "American Idol" reboot, judge Katy Perry kissed a contestant named Benjamin Glaze on the lips and created a lively debate among fans. And now he's speaking out on the experience and calling the moment "uncomfortable."

The kiss occurred during the ABC reboot's premiere on Sunday night. One of the most talked-about moments from the episode was when Glaze got an unexpected kiss from Perry prior to his audition, after he admitted that he had never kissed a girl before.

Some thought the moment was funny, and the judges laughed it off before Glaze performed his audition song. But others called the moment inappropriate. They argued that if one of the other judges, like Luke Bryan or Lionel Richie, did that to a female contestant, more people would be outraged. 

Speaking to the New York Times, Glaze admitted that he also found the kiss "uncomfortable." He also said that he wanted to "save it for my first relationship."

Glaze added that if Perry asked permission beforehand, rather than tricking him, he would have denied her. 

"Would I have done it if she said, 'Would you kiss me?' No, I would have said no," Glaze said. "I know a lot of guys would be like, 'Heck yeah!' But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special."

Although the kiss was unwanted, Glaze said that a positive thing that resulted from the airtime was that more people were exposed to his music. 

"So in that way, I'm glad she did it because it's a great opportunity to get my music out."

After Glaze sang Nick Jonas song "Levels" for his audition, the judges didn't put him through to the Hollywood round because they said he needed more practice. 

Representatives for Katy Perry didn't immediately respond to INSIDER's request for comment.

Stephen Hawking, who died today at age 76, was known for his work on the science of time travel and black holes.

The British physicist penned several bestselling books and even worked on an Emmy Award-winning documentary trilogy, called "Stephen Hawking's Favorite Places."

In the show, which is one of the last Hawking ever worked on, he flies around in a spaceship called the "S.S. Hawking" and explores deep scientific mysteries.

The show was created by CuriosityStream, and its description reads: "Mixing recollections from his childhood and family life that inspired his work as a scientist, he goes in search of the ultimate mystery: the theory of everything. Along the way, time travel and a precarious free fall to Venus, plus questions about aliens, God, and truth, offer unprecedented insight into this genius mind."

CuriosityStream planned to release the third and final episode, which in part dives into Hawking's fears about artificial intelligence, in mid-April.

But a representative for the company told Business Insider that, following the death of Hawking, its creators decided to release the last episode today.

Through March 23, Anyone can also watch the series for free for a limited time. It's normally packaged in a streaming subscription that costs between $2.99 and $11.99 per month.

• Former ESPN president John Skipper resigned suddenly in December, citing a long struggle with "substance addiction."
• But in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Skipper shed light on the days leading up to his resignation, which included being caught up in an extortion plot for a cocaine purchase. 
• Skipper said he resigned after disclosing the extortion to Disney CEO Bob Iger, with whom he agreed that he had "placed the company in an untenable position."

In December, John Skipper resigned suddenly from his role as president of ESPN and cochairman of Disney Media Networks, citing a long struggle with "substance addiction."

The move came as a shock to the sports-media world at the time. But in a new interview with ESPN historian James Andrew Miller for The Hollywood Reporter, Skipper described the difficult days leading up to his resignation, which included his being caught up in an extortion plot for a cocaine purchase. 

In the interview, Skipper admitted to being an "infrequent" cocaine user. He said that in December, someone he had not previously bought cocaine from "attempted to extort" him, and that this ultimately brought about a discussion with Disney CEO Bob Iger that led to his resignation.

"They threatened me, and I understood immediately that threat put me and my family at risk, and this exposure would put my professional life at risk as well," Skipper said. "I foreclosed that possibility by disclosing the details to my family, and then when I discussed it with Bob [Iger], he and I agreed that I had placed the company in an untenable position and as a result, I should resign."

"It was inappropriate for the president of ESPN and an officer of The Walt Disney Co. to be associated in any way with any of this," he continued. "I do want to make it clear, however, that anything I did in this regard, and anything else resulting from this, was a personal problem. My drug use never had any professional repercussions, but I still have profound regret."

Skipper described how he spent the day following his resignation by himself in New York City, crying as he "realized the profundity of what I’d done to myself, to my family, and that I’d given up the best job in sports on the planet."

He went on to call James Pitaro, the man who replaced him as ESPN president on March 5, "a good, smart executive," whose "style will work at ESPN."

Katy Perry's flirtatious actions on ABC's "American Idol" reboot have caused controversy and discussion online, particularly after she tricked contestant Benjamin Glaze and kissed him on the lips before his audition. Glaze recently called the moment "uncomfortable," and now he's clearing up what was said. 

Taking to Instagram, the 20-year-old wrote a lengthy caption in response to the mixed reactions from people who tuned in to the "American Idol" reboot premiere, which aired on Sunday night.

He clarified that he "wasn't complaining about the kiss from Katy Perry" and aspects of the situation have been misinterpreted. 

"I am not complaining about the kiss, I am very honored and thankful to have been apart of 'American Idol,'" Glaze wrote.

Perry kissed Glaze right before he performed his audition song, and he appeared flustered as he sang. Although he didn't make it to the Hollywood round, judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan encouraged him to practice more. 

He admitted that his audition didn't go as well as he expected and he "should have picked another song to sing and calmed myself down regardless of the kiss. I should have been able to perform under pressure." 

In response to many people calling Perry's kiss sexual harassment because it was unwanted and she wasn't given consent, Glaze said: "I do not think I was sexually harassed by Katy Perry and I am thankful for the judges [sic] comments and critiques."

Glaze also repeated that the he was uncomfortable, because he had never been kissed and "was not expecting it."

"My main goal is to reach people through the universal love of music and not cause strife or anger against anyone or about any situation," he added. 

In a previous interview with the New York Times, Glaze first spoke out about the kiss, saying it made him "uncomfortable" because he had never been kissed before and "wanted to save it for my first relationship." 

But he also said that because of the moment, he has been able to "get my music out."

Wednesday's episode of The CW's "Riverdale" introduced some new characters to the town. 

The CW drama brought in Clifford Blossom's twin brother Claudius during a drama-filled will reading. Fred Andrews almost ran for mayor until the Lodge's big secret was revealed and resulted in Hermione running for mayor. And of course, the show managed to fit in some pop culture references and callbacks to the comics.

INSIDER worked with Archie Comics to reveal six references you might have missed.

Toni has a direct callback to one of Kevin's lines from the first season.

When the will reading is interrupted by an angry Alice Cooper, Toni says, "This is riveting. I can't breathe." 

This is verbatim what Kevin says to Joaquin on season one during Jughead's birthday party after Veronica accuses Cheryl of being too close to her brother. 

Polly mentions Dr. Patel, a character from the comics.

Polly wonders how quickly Dr. Patel can get their blood tests back to them.

Ravi Patel is a character from the comics. He's a doctor and the father of Raj Patel, a friend of Archie and company. 

Veronica tells Archie their life isn't the "Manchurian Candidate."

Veronica and Archie get into a fight after Archie spills the beans about the Lodges buying Pop's Diner. He tells her that he's just trying to protect his dad after her parents want him to run for mayor. 

"This isn't 'The Manchurian Candidate,'" she shouts at him.

"The Manchurian Candidate" is a novel — and film — is thriller about the son of a political family who has been brainwashed into being an assassin for Communists. Her reference implies that Archie thinks her parents will use Fred for bad things.

Netflix made a deal with Marvel Comics back in 2013 to produce four Marvel-universe shows and a mini-series.

The deal expanded last year, when Netflix released its sixth Marvel show, "The Punisher." Its latest Marvel release was the second season of "Jessica Jones," which premiered to positive reviews this month.
