  • Sam Smith was a guest on Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen" Tuesday night and participated in the show's "Plead the Fifth" segment.
  • He was asked to choose between Kim Kardashian West or Taylor Swift in their feud and sidesteps the question by saying "there's no teams, really."
  • But he does say he's better friends with Kardashian.
  • "I don't know her too well," Smith said of Swift. "I think it's been made up that we know each other."
  • When Cohen mentioned that Smith went to her birthday party, he said, "Yeah, but, I think a lot of people went."

"Bates Motel"

  • 2013 – 2017
  • Five Seasons
  • Lives on via Netflix

One of those shows that sounded like a bad idea until the execution proved it to be great, “Bates Motel” ended on its own terms, got freaking Rihanna to play Marion Crane (a massive coup for the show, given the importance of the character and the fact that it was freaking Rihanna), and delivered a solid finale. It’s hard to say goodbye to great TV, but “Bates Motel” went gracefully into that good night.

"Blood Drive"

  • 2017 – 2017
  • One Season
  • Lives on via Syfy

There’s something incredibly endearing about how this raw and insane homage to grindhouse was such a labor of love for everyone involved. The fact this show existed remains a miracle, especially given how it was on ad-supported cable. The ways in which it pushed the boundaries of what might be possible on TV while gleefully exploding genre tropes should be studied by scholars for years to come. We may never get a Season 2, but we’re lucky to have gotten Season 1.

"The Carmichael Show"

  • 2015 – 2017
  • Three Seasons
  • Lives on via Hulu and Netflix

The family sitcom usually breaks down on one of two lines: It’s either them against the world or them against other. Over three seasons, “The Carmichael Show” forged a distinct third path, representing a wider variety of opinions and perspectives on some of the days’ most inescapable topics. Sure, some of the characters fit into recognizable categories like David Alan Grier’s curmudgeonly patriarch, Lil Rel Howery’s occasionally goofy son, or Jerrod Carmichael himself, as the semi-neutral center of family chaos.

But what really separated out “Carmichael” was the intense love it had for its characters as more than those recognizable types. These arguments never reset family back to zero at the end of each episode and never resorted to letting the same character win every single time. It was a foundation that could have continued on for years — we’re hoping its spirit will live on in whatever comes next for those who helped bring it to life.

Netflix's new binge-worthy German TV series 'Dark' defaults to strange voiceover dubbing — here's the best way to watch it

Martha Play Ariadne Dark Episode 6

  • "Dark" is Netflix's first original German series, and it's a surefire hit.
  • But in the US, the show defaults to a dubbed English version.
  • Watching the original German version with English subtitles is a much better experience.
  • You can change the audio settings on Netflix to several captioned languages including English, German, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese.

If you haven't started Netflix's new cerebral mystery series "Dark" yet, you're missing out. But before you dive in, it's important to know all the audio options. "Dark" is the streaming service's first original German series, which means the entire show was filmed with German actors speaking (you guessed it) German.

For US viewers, Netflix automatically plays a version of the show dubbed in English. But the audio doesn't quite sync up with the actors on screen, and the voice acting isn't the best.

You should switch your settings to the original German audio and turn on English subtitles.

Here's how to do it. When you start playing the show, go to the bottom menu on the screen:

Martha Dark Netflix subtitles german skitched copy

The second box from the right is will open the audio and subtitles settings. For English speakers, we recommend selecting German audio and English subtitles.

If English isn't your first language, the US version of Netflix also offers Chinese and Spanish subtitles. For those watching on an Apple TV, you can pull down the same audio menu from the top of your screen while in the Netflix app.

Though reading subtitles throughout a show (especially one as complex as "Dark") can feel like a chore, trust us. It's a much better experience and will allow you to truly grasp the performances in the way they are meant to be conveyed on screen.

'Morning Joe' host Mika Brzezinski questions the #MeToo movement: Do 'all women need to be believed?'

Morning Joe

  • "Morning Joe" cohost Mika Brzezinski on Friday cast doubt on the veracity of the allegations made by one of Al Franken's sexual harassment accusers.
  • Brzezinksi's comments seemed to question the intentions of the #MeToo movement at large.
  • In the same broadcast, Brzezinski announced MSNBC's suspension of a "Morning Joe" contributor who was accused of sexual misconduct.

On Friday, "Morning Joe" cohost Mika Brzezinski cast doubt on a sexual harassment accuser of Al Franken while seeming to question the intentions of the #MeToo phenomenon, a movement which has seen myriad women come forward with experiences and accusations of sexual misconduct in recent months.

"In this #MeToo environment, you must always just believe the women and I think that there's a lot of reasons why we need to look at the women seriously and believe them," Brzezinski said on Friday's show. "I'm just wondering if all women need to be believed, and I'm concerned that we are being the judge, the jury, and the cops here, and so did Senate Democrats getting ahead of their skis."

Brzezinski went on to question whether the first woman to accuse Al Franken of sexual harassment, Leeann Tweeden, had a political motive. (Franken resigned from his Senate seat on Thursday in response to the numerous allegations of misconduct made against him over weeks, and pressure from his Democratic colleagues.)

Brzezinski noted that Tweeden had appeared as a "Hannity" contributor.

"We've never really talked about the woman who first came out against Al Franken," Brzezinski said. "A performer, a Playboy model who goes on 'Hannity,' who voted for Trump. I see some politics there."

In the same broadcast on Friday, Brzezinski announced that "Morning Joe" contributor Harold Ford Jr. would be taken off the air after Ford was terminated by his employer, Morgan Stanley, for alleged misconduct.

Why did Mikkel/Michael kill himself? What was Jonas supposed to understand based on his suicide note?

Mikkel is still a very mysterious figure in "Dark." Jonas refers to him being "sick" in the years leading up to his life — is it possible that seeing himself be born and grow up drove him to a mental brink?

But how did he come to create that map of the caves? And how did he learn the exact moment of his disappearance?

Why did Mikkel appear covered in ink or oil every time Jonas saw him in dreams or visions?

Jonas saw his father, Michael (the adult-Mikkel) three times over the ten episodes. Each time it appeared to be a vision or dream, and his father was covered in streaks of black liquid. It might have been paint, since Mikkel seems to have become an artist, but what is the purpose of this symbolism?

How did Mikkel get to 1986? We saw him emerge from the caves but never saw him enter them or the door portal.

When Jonas and Mikkel were running through the forest, Jonas fell down and lost sight of Mikkel. Where did he go? Did he run back to the caves? Or did someone like Helge grab him and bring him back into the caves? If that's the case, why would Helge have let him go once inside the 1986 cave? Why not bring him to the bunker?

If it wasn't Helge, is there a second wormhole portal in the woods?

Trump reportedly told aides to think of his presidency as a TV show where he 'vanquishes' rivals

0

trump on fox & friends

  • President Donald Trump spends at least 4 hours a day in front of a TV, and sometimes as many as 8 hours.
  • Trump's affinity for cable news is well known, but the extent to which it influences his daily schedule is perhaps greater than what most people thought.
  • Among his favorite shows and networks to watch are Fox & Friends, MSNBC's "Morning Joe," and even CNN.

It's not news that President Donald Trump watches a lot of TV.

But in a report published Saturday, The New York Times revealed just how much cable news influences Trump's day-to-day schedule.

Before entering the White House, Trump reportedly told aides to think of each day as an episode in a TV show in which he "vanquishes rivals," according to the report.

Every morning, Trump reportedly tunes in to CNN for the news, then moves on to "Fox & Friends," and sometimes MSNBC's "Morning Joe." Trump spends at least 4 hours a day watching TV, and sometimes as many as 8 hours, while "marinating in the no-holds-barred wars of cable news and eager to fire back."

Trump has repeatedly pushed back against the idea that he is a TV addict.

“I do not watch much television,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One in November. “I know they like to say — people that don’t know me — they like to say I watch television. People with fake sources — you know, fake reporters, fake sources. But I don’t get to watch much television, primarily because of documents. I’m reading documents a lot.”

But those around the president contradict his claims that he doesn't watch much television. Trump reportedly has sole control over the remote. Even during meetings, TV shows, often muted, run in the background, according to The Times. Trump will periodically take a glimpse at the scrolling headlines and share his reactions with whoever is with him.

The New York Times noted that because of his large appetite for cable news consumption, Trump's associates "raised questions about his capacity and willingness to differentiate bad information from something that is true."

Chief of Staff John Kelly reportedly tries to manage the flow of information to Trump and mitigate the president's fiery outbursts on Twitter. In August, Kelly sent two memos around the White House outlining his approach to streamlining Trump's schedule. Kelly felt that a big component of that, according to the memos, was to vet each and every piece of news that made it to the Resolute desk.

The shake-up marked a significant departure from a previously freewheeling West Wing in which aides, advisers, and confidants enjoyed relatively frequent access to the Oval Office. But while Kelly has been able to enact changes to the way the West Wing functions since assuming his new role, multiple media reports, including The Times', indicated that Kelly has been unable to monitor every aspect of Trump's news consumption.

Sinking NFL viewership is threatening to crush ad sales

0

cam newton nfl player sad crying

  • TV ratings for the National Football League have declined in each of the past two seasons.
  • RBC Capital Markets says that this is going to hurt ad sales as investors shy away in an increasingly competitive landscape.

When it comes to TV ratings, the National Football League needs a Hail Mary.

Average game viewership has fallen to 15 million this season, down from 16.5 million last year, and the lowest since 2008, according to data compiled by RBC Capital Markets.

The firm also finds that the league's audience is down on a year-over-year basis, and notes that it hasn't seen meaningful growth since 2013, when the measure climbed 5%. RBC says this has had an adverse effect on how advertisers view the prospect of buying time slots during NFL games.

"The sustained decline is what worries investors about media's willingness to offload the NFL's monetization risk," analyst Steven Cahall wrote in a client note.

Screen Shot 2017 12 01 at 4.05.49 PM

RBC says possible reasons for the ratings skid include player protests, the NFL's ongoing concussion controversy, competition from politics, increased offerings from cable and entertainment providers, and an oversaturation of games. And there's also what Cahall considers to be the most obvious explanation:

"When a Sunday or Monday Night game is 42-7 late in the 3rd quarter, the viewer may now opt to catch up on Stranger Things or Billions instead of watching through to the end," he said. " Five or ten years ago, an unexciting 4th quarter might still have been the best thing on TV."

9 clues that gave away the big twist on Sunday’s 'The Walking Dead' mid-season finale

carl walking dead 806

Warning: There are major spoilers ahead for "The Walking Dead."

Sunday's mid-season finale of "The Walking Dead" promised a big, shocking moment fans would be talking about until the show returns and it made good on its word.

The show made a huge departure from the comic series when Carl revealed in the episode's final moments he was bitten by a walker at some point earlier on the show. Showrunner Scott Gimple said Carl's bite will play out as other bites have on the series. AKA Carl's toast. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Andrew Lincoln, who plays Carl's father Rick Gimple told him Carl would be dying.

Though many were surprised, eagle-eyed fans may have had an inkling if they were watching the show carefully or have been paying attention to actor Chandler Riggs on social media. Keep reading to see the clues that hinted that Riggs time was short on "The Walking Dead."

1. Chandler Riggs worried fans when he debuted a new haircut for a movie role.

November 30, Riggs showed off a new mullet. Fans instantly thought it might be bad news for Carl. People started tweeting things like "rip Carl Grimes" to the actor.

2. Riggs tweeted a few somber messages about his time on the show over the past few months.

"Coolest part about being in la is seeing myself on billboards," Riggs tweeted in October. "Makes me really appreciate twd & the fans for giving me such an awesome opportunity and a career. Idk if I'll ever be as successful as I am right now, but I'm so glad I got this chance to help tell a story that actually impacts people."

More recently, Riggs went down memory lane to recall his favorite moment to film on the show.

"Saw a question somewhere about my favorite scene to film in the first 3 seasons on twd was, had me thinking," he tweeted December 1. "Tbh all of the last episode of season 2 was so much fun to film. coolest part was dropping the lighter to just obliterate a horde of zombies."

He even trolled other outlets in November tweeting "y'all think i'm getting killed off every year."

3. Riggs announced he was accepted into college last year.

Last November, Riggs told fans he was accepted to go to college at Auburn University in Alabama.

Riggs said he hoped he would be able to juggle the responsibilities of both school and filming "The Walking Dead."

"Theoretically, I could take one or two classes on campus and maybe an online class," Riggs told The Hollywood Reporter about being a full-time student while working on the show last December. "My professors would have to be willing to cooperate. It wouldn't be easy but I think that could be possible."

'The Walking Dead' gave away its huge mid-season finale reveal episodes ago and no one noticed — here's how to find it

walking dead siddiq carl

Warning: There are major spoilers ahead for "The Walking Dead" mid-season finale.

"The Walking Dead" surprised fans during its big 90-minute mid-season finale Sunday night when Carl revealed he was nursing a big old zombie bite.

Actor Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl on the show, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter his character will be killed off the show.

While a lot of fans were caught off guard, many more started asking the most logical question: When did this happen?

If you're thinking that Carl wasn't really in danger from any walkers while limping around Alexandria playing dodge the grenade, you're right. He wasn't. Carl has had that bite for a few episodes now.

walking dead carl bit

"The Walking Dead" showrunner Scott M. Gimple confirmed as much on the series' aftershow, "Talking Dead."

"It's been on screen," Gimple said on the end of Sunday's "Talking Dead.""The aftermath is very much on screen. If you watch a certain episode and see Carl's face, Chandler did it. I will say, a few of us were pretty sure that everybody knew, that everybody knew right afterwards. We were really surprised that folks didn't."

walking dead carl zombie bite

Gimple neglected to say which episode the bite occurs in, but, if you're a pretty avid fan of the show, it's not too tough to find the moment.

We're pretty confident the bite occurs in the season's sixth episode when Carl is fighting off zombies with his new pal, Siddiq. Riggs told THR he found out he would be leaving the show back in June when he was rehearsing for the season's sixth episode.

carl walking dead 806

This should have been a simple task, but the episode spent time lingering on Carl getting overtaken by a few walkers.

It's because he was getting bit.

If you're able to go back and watch the episode, the bite happens about half an hour into the episode. Carl is wrestling on the ground with two zombies.

walking dead carl bit 806

There are two brief moments where you see Carl react in shock. Presumably, the bit happens when Carl gives a shocked face for a second on screen.

carl walker bit walking deadchandler riggs carl

There's also another moment when there's a walker near his side and Carl grimaces before shooting both zombies dead.

carl bit walking dead

Watching the scene over again with that knowledge makes it play out a lot differently. Carl gets up off the ground a bit slower and the entire right side of his shirt, where he was bit, is soaked in blood.

carl bit walking dead 808

If you're not convinced, even Riggs himself tried to tell fans weeks before the mid-season finale's reveal.

The day after the season's sixth episode aired, he tweeted out two stills of Carl's shocked face, presumably while he was being bitten.

Though a few people tweeted at the actor asking if he was bit, no one really questioned it. Riggs is big on being a jokester on social media. Plus, he tweeted out the images with an unsuspicious joke about Chick-fil-A. At the time, it didn't seem unusual for Riggs.

The first time I watched the episode, I paused at Carl's reaction. But when he got up and said he was unharmed I didn't think twice about it. "The Walking Dead" is good at getting you nervous in the moment from time to time, but usually it doesn't amount to anything.

Still, Carl was covered in an awful mess of blood and it looked like there may have been some fresh blood on his hands.

Now we know why.

You can watch the moment Carl reveals his bite to Michonne and Rick below. "The Walking Dead" returns to AMC February 25 at 9 p.m. You can follow along with our show coverage here.

Sunday's big moment on 'The Walking Dead' mid-season finale will have a huge impact on the show moving forward and comic fans aren't happy

0
0

carl rick walking dead 808

Warning: There are major spoilers ahead for "The Walking Dead."

"The Walking Dead" surprised fans with a huge departure from the comics during its 90-minute mid-season finale.

In the episode's final moments, Carl revealed to his father and Michonne that he was recently bit. Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl on the show, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter Carl will indeed be killed off the show.

While some may have applauded the show taking a big risk, a lot of comic-book fans aren't happy with the decision to kill off Carl at all. Many are pointing out how Carl becomes integral to the comics after the end of Rick's war against Negan. There are so many more big storylines in the comics for Carl as he becomes a teenager.

A lot of people are upset with showrunner Scott Gimple and are airing their grievances.

The decision to take Carl out of the picture at this point in the show is a bit eyebrow-raising if you're familiar with Robert Kirkman's comic series of the same name.

Carl starts to take on more of a leadership role as his father gets older. Over the past few years, the comic has started to shift more from Rick to his son Carl. Since Carl is one of the few characters who has truly grown up and lived his life through the apocalypse, it starts to make more sense that the comic would center around the younger Grimes.

In some ways, it feels like it always has been his story.

Some fans are wondering why the show didn’t take the opportunity to kill off or seriously injure Daryl. As of late, he's become little more than a man bent on revenge. Carl has a rich set of material to continue on the show for years.

One of the biggest story lines "The Walking Dead" would be tossing out is the unique bond and friendship that eventually comes to pass between Negan and Carl. Eventually, Carl gets enough confidence to start walking around without his eye patch and bandage and embraces his injury as part of his identity. A lot of that is because of Negan. It's a sour spot for Rick that he and his son never really discuss much in the show or the comic. Now, it feels like a huge missed opportunity for character growth.

carl grimes TWD comics #172

Perhaps some of Carl's story arcs will be passed along to another character like his sister Judith or his girlfriend Enid.

But killing off Carl when he's at his peak makes it seem like it was a waste for the show to even bother removing his eye in the first place.

It seems like Riggs himself was caught off guard by the decision to kill his character. In his interview with THR, he says that he had just bought a home close to where they film before he was told Carl would be leaving the show.

Carl's death is expected to be seen when the series returns February 25. You can follow along with our "Walking Dead" coverage here.

'The Walking Dead' shocks with a huge departure from the comics and fans don't know how to feel

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for "The Walking Dead" mid-season finale, "How It's Gotta Be."

"The Walking Dead" mid-season finale promised a big moment that everyone would be talking about and it delivered.

Although we saw some character deaths at the Hilltop and Oceanside, a major one wasn't immediately killed off Sunday's episode. Instead, the show ended on a somber note when it was revealed that Rick's son Carl (Chandler Riggs) suffered a walker bite at some point.

"That is a bite on his side," showrunner Scott M. Gimple confirmed on the series aftershow "Talking Dead.""It will play out as bites play out on the show."

As we know, unless bites are on arms or legs and can be amputated, there's not much to do to save anyone.

"The bite is going to play out as we have seen bites play out, and it's very important to Carl's story and the entire story what happens in the next episode," Gimple added. "I'm just focused on the fact that Carl, right now, is alive and he has some business to attend to. That is a one way ticket. I'd like to think that the things that we see in the next episode are so important to his life and the other characters' lives."

Don't hold out hope for any last minute cure.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Riggs is leaving the show and his death will occur when the show returns in February.

"Yes, Carl is going to die," Riggs told THR. "There's no way he can get back from that. His story is definitely coming to an end."

As "Talking Dead" host Chris Hardwick noted Sunday night, this is a radical departure from the comics. Carl is still alive and well in the comics and has become a leader in his own right.

Fans were not ready for the big reveal.

A lot of fans had one big question — how and when did this Carl get this bite?

For the answer, you may want to revisit an older episode from this season. Throughout the mid-season finale, Carl is seen prepping notes for his father and for Enid, insinuating he had this bite ahead of time.

It's most likely that he received the bite in season eight's sixth episode, in which he and Siddiq encounter — and fight — a few walkers.

Gimple confirmed Carl acquired his bite in a different episode on "Talking Dead," but neglected to tell fans exactly where they can see it on screen.

Riggs expressed his thoughts on the mid-season finale.

Riggs took to Twitter after the episode's end to thank fans for all their kind words and for tuning in to the show.

"Throughout the series, Carl has been in Rick's shadow and learning from him and observing him," Riggs said in a pre-taped interview that appeared on "Talking Dead.""He sees when Rick does something wrong and he takes action on it. I think every moment throughout the series has led up to that moment commanding everyone in Alexandria to make this escape plan."

"When Carl pulls up his shirt and pulls down his bandage to reveal the bite, it's a huge moment for him, for Rick and Michonne, for everyone in the group," he added. "He's definitely happy with the way things ended up with him saving everyone in Alexandria and making sure everyone's alive. It's going to be really interesting to see what happens next."

Though Carl hasn't been bit yet in the comics, some fans compared the mid-season's big reveal to a similarly heartbreaking storyline from the comic.

In a recent issue, it was revealed that Andrea — who made it much further in the comics than her TV counterpart — was bit on the neck while out on a mission. She had to reveal her bite to Rick, and all anyone could do was keep her comfortable until she turned into a zombie.

So why do we hear Carl in the future?

There's still one big question though. Why did we hear Carl's voice in the flash-forward with an older Rick?

"It's possible it's a vision or another version of the future," Riggs told THR. "That whole scene was taken almost directly out of inspiration from the time jump in the comics, so it could be the future, it could be a vision or it could be something else."

We'll have to wait to learn more when the show returns February 25.

Chief Jim Hopper Stranger Things season one E3

  • David Harbour plays beloved police chief Jim Hopper on Netflix's "Stranger Things."
  • He received a Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actor on a TV series.
  • "Stranger Things" fans were thrilled to see Harbour nominated for the first time.
  • A lot of "Hopper dancing" GIFs were shared in celebration.

"Stranger Things" star David Harbour (Jim Hopper) just earned his first Golden Globe nomination for best supporting actor on a TV series. After the second season of Netflix's hit drama series premiered this October, Harbour and his dancing skills dominated the internet.

Fans of "Stranger Things" were thrilled for Harbour, who has been acting since 1999 but truly broke out after portraying the gruff police chief of Hawkins, Indiana.

Nearly everyone shared the now-famous "Hopper Dancing" GIF, a product of one scene on the second season where Hopper plays a record for Eleven and gets his groove on.

Even Millie Bobby Brown (who plays Eleven) shared a picture from the "Hopper Dancing" scene and congratulated her "Stranger Things" co-star.

INSIDER spoke with Harbour earlier this year about his role on "Stranger Things" and the way fans responded to his character's second season storyline — especially the dancing.

"I just had no idea or expectations that the 'dad-dancing' or 'white man Hopper dancing' was going to take off," Harbour told INSIDER. "I feel like I need to have some redemption in season three, I want to really show people that I can actually dance."

'There are no excuses': Celebrity chef Mario Batali addresses sexual misconduct allegations by multiple women

mario batali sexual misconduct allegations abc the chew

  • Several women have come forward with sexual misconduct allegations against celebrity chef Mario Batali.
  • Three of the four women who've come forward have worked for or with Batali in the restaurant industry.
  • The allegations span nearly two decades, and include stories of inappropriate touching and behavior.
  • Batali released a statement apologizing for his behavior and saying that the behavior described "was wrong and there are no excuses."
  • Batali has stepped away from his restaurant empire and his co-hosting duties at ABC's "The Chew."

Mario Batali is stepping away from his vast food empire and his co-hosting position on ABC's "The Chew" after at least three former female employees and one female chef have come forward with sexual misconduct allegations against him.

The chef released a statement to press on Monday morning acknowledging the behavior and apologizing for it.

"I apologize to the people I have mistreated and hurt," Batali's statement read. "Although the identities of most of the individuals mentioned in these stories have not been revealed to me, much of the behavior described does, in fact, match up with ways I have acted. That behavior was wrong and there are no excuses. I take full responsibility and am deeply sorry for any pain, humiliation or discomfort I have caused to my peers, employees, customers, friends and family."

According to Eater, which first reported the allegations, the four women have detailed incidents of alleged inappropriate touching and behavior by the celebrity chef spanning at least two decades.

Among the allegations, one chef who did not work with Batali said he offered her a job during a wine event. When she spilled wine on herself, she said Batali began to rub her chest with his bare hands, saying, "Let me help you with that."

Other allegations from the three women who either worked for Batali or in close association with him in the restaurant industry include groping, close body contact, and in one case, "compell[ing]" a woman to straddle him. You can read the full report and the women's stories at Eater.

A spokesperson for the Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group told Eater that the allegations are being reviewed. They also said that as recently as two months ago, they investigated Batali for inappropriate behavior in the workplace after a restaurant employee complained. The spokesperson said it was the first formal complaint made against Batali and that he was reprimanded and required to undergo training.

In his statement, Batali said he's stepping away from his vast food empire, which includes more than 20 restaurants co-owned by him.

"I have work to do to try to regain the trust of those I have hurt and disappointed," he said. "For this reason, I am going to step away from day-to-day operations of my businesses. We built these restaurants so that our guests could have fun and indulge, but I took that too far in my own behavior. I won’t make that mistake again. I want any place I am associated with to feel comfortable and safe for the people who work or dine there. I know my actions have disappointed many people. The successes I have enjoyed are owned by everyone on my team. The failures are mine alone."

ABC also asked Batali to "step away" from the daytime food talk show, "The Chew," though they say they haven't received any complaints against the chef. A show representative sent this statement to INSIDER:

"We have asked Mario Batali to step away from 'The Chew' while we review the allegations that have just recently come to our attention. ABC takes matters like this very seriously as we are committed to a safe work environment. While we are unaware of any type of inappropriate behavior involving him and anyone affiliated with the show, we will swiftly address any alleged violations of our standards of conduct."

These allegations against Batali are just the latest in a string of allegations surfacing in the entertainment business and other industries. Many notable Hollywood figures, including the actors Kevin Spacey and Ed Westwick, have been accused of sexual misconduct ranging from harassment to rape since an October 5 New York Times exposé detailed allegations going back decades against the Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

If you are a victim of sexual assault, you can visit RAINN or call its hotline at 1-800-656-4673 to receive confidential support from a trained staff member.

'The Walking Dead' actor's father weighs in on his son's surprise departure: I never trusted AMC

Warning: There are major spoilers ahead if you have not seen Sunday's "The Walking Dead" mid-season finale.

AMC's "The Walking Dead" caught fans off guard Sunday night when it revealed that Carl — one of the show's original characters — was bitten by a zombie.

Chandler Riggs, who played Chandler, confirmed there's no coming back from this and that he will be departing the show after its return in February.

It's not just comic fans who are unhappy one of the characters with the most potential to continue carrying the show is getting killed off. The actor's father, William Riggs, had some choice words about the series' showrunner, Scott Gimple, and network to share with fans.

"Watching Gimple fire my son 2 weeks before his 18th birthday after telling him they wanted him for the next 3 years was disappointing," wrote Riggs in a deleted Facebook message. "I never trusted Gimple or AMC, but Chandler did. I know how much it hurt him. But we do absolutely know how lucky we have been to be a part of it all and appreciate all the love from fans all these years!"

We first spotted the comment getting circulated on "The Walking Dead" subreddit channel. INSIDER was able to review and capture the message in its entirety before it was taken down.

It's worth noting that William Riggs posted the comment on a Facebook page for "Walking Dead"-related tours he hosts called "Riggs Tours."

According to the tour's Facebook page, for $19.99 Chandler's father will take fans to some of the show's filming locations and share "exclusive details of what goes on behind the scenes." It's not clear whether or not this is with the approval of AMC.

Chandler told THR he had purchased a home near the show's filming location thinking he would be there for a while.

"For a few days, we didn't know what to do; I just bought a house in Senoia [near where the show films in Georgia]," Chandler Riggs told THR. "That was a big deal that I wouldn't be on anymore. I decided that I wanted to not go to college for at least a year and move to L.A. and focus on acting and music."

AMC and William Riggs didn't immediately respond to INSIDER's request for comment.
