An unauthorized "Stranger Things" pop-up bar in Chicago's Logan Square has drawn crowds since it opened last month, but Netflix is now asking the bar to shut down after its designated six-week run.

The company's request to the pop-up bar's creators came in the form of a cease-and-desist letter filled with "Stranger Things" puns, including a light-hearted threat to unleash the Demogorgon, the show's supernatural villain, if they don't comply:

"Danny and Doug,

My walkie talkie is busted so I had to write this note instead. I heard you launched a Stranger Things pop-up bar at your Logan Square location. Look, I don’t want you to think I’m a total wastoid, and I love how much you guys love the show. (Just wait until you see Season 2!) But unless I’m living in the Upside Down, I don’t think we did a deal with you for this pop-up. You’re obviously creative types, so I’m sure you can appreciate that it’s important to us to have a say in how our fans encounter the worlds we build.

We’re not going to go full Dr. Brenner on you, but we ask that you please (1) not extend the pop-up beyond its 6 week run ending in September, and (2) reach out to us for permission if you plan to do something like this again. Let me know as soon as possible that you agree to these requests.

We love our fans more than anything, but you should know the Demogorgon is not always as forgiving. So please don’t make us call your mom."

Jared Saul, the manager of the Emporium Arcade bar where the pop-up is taking place, took the letter in stride. He told DNA Info via email, "It’s been so much fun for us & for fans of Stranger Things & has even introduced the show to new fans here in Chicago who weren’t aware of the show before visiting the pop-up."

Clarke, as always, was on top of her hashtag game with #khaleesikicksoff. This new blonde look should make transforming into Daenerys much easier on the final season of "Game of Thrones."

"Game of Thrones"may not return until 2019, but in the meantime we can hope for more Instagram updates from the mother of dragons herself.

Just a year and a half ago,Victoria Arlen learned how to walk again. And now, she is competing on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."

The ESPN personality and former paralympian swimmer spent a decade paralyzed from the waist down. She got ill when she was 11 years old, and it led to a series of symptoms that culminated in a diagnosis of two rare diseases: Transverse Myelitis and Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis, which caused swelling in her brain and spinal cord.

They caused Arlen to go into a vegetative state.

"My three brothers — I'm a triplet and we have an older brother — talked to me and kept me in the know about what was going on outside of my room,"Arlen wrote in an essay for ESPN. "They empowered me to fight and get stronger. They didn't know I could hear them, but I could."

In 2009, after four years of being in a vegitative state, Arlen began to move again.

"I began coming back to life," Arlen wrote. "Raw sounds became words, became sentences. A twitch of my index finger became the wave of my hand. The ability to swallow pudding eventually led to me mowing on a steak. I learned the name Justin Bieber, held my first cell phone, and learned what it meant to "poke" someone on Facebook."

But medical professionals insisted that Arlen would have to get used to a wheelchair. They said she would be paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of her life.

Arlen insisted on getting her mobility back anyway. She learned to swim again, free from a wheelchair. In 2012, she competed in the London Paralympics for the United States's swim team. She brought home three silver medals, a gold medal, and set a world record for the 100-meter freestyle.

"When I returned home, I was met with quite a bit of fanfare," Arlen wrote. "All of a sudden, my chair and I were thrust into the spotlight. I was invited to speaking engagements and appearances. People recognized me at the grocery store."

Following the London games, Arlen joined Project Walk, a paralysis recovery center based in San Diego, which offered a useful therapy. But Arlen wanted to move back home to Boston, so she can be near her family. And despite her progress, specialists weren't optimistic about her prospects.

"In 2013, my mother had asked one of my specialists what the possibility was of me ever walking again. He told her, 'I wouldn't mortgage the house,'" Arlen wrote. "Well, my parents mortgaged our house and in 2015, they opened Project Walk Boston."

In November 2015, Arlen took her first step in nearly a decade. In March 2016, she stopped using crutches.

"It had been six years since I 'woke up' and my legs had shown no life," Arlen wrote. "Most doctors say if there is no improvement after two years, there will be no improvement. Still, I showed up every day, for up to six hours a day, and worked."

The regimen is intense, but Arlen kept it up to improve her mobility. In that time, she also got a job as a television personality for ESPN and spends time advocating for people who suffer from paralysis like her.

And now, she's dancing up a storm.

"Gossip Girl" is arguably one of the best teen dramas of the 21st century, yet one thing will never make sense — Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) being the titular, trouble-making narrator, Gossip Girl. 

From constantly spreading rumors about his 15-year-old sister's sex life to acting shocked at Gossip Girl blasts when he's all alone, a lot of things never quite added up to the show's final (and reviled) reveal. 

Executive producer Stephanie Savage claims to E! News that the writers always knew Dan was Gossip Girl and that the big secret was almost revealed in the first episode. She also admits that there are a lot of times when fans could have been dubious that Dan was truly Gossip Girl.

"We could have made the show two hours long with just Rufus drilling Dan about all of those things," she said to E! News. "What about this time and what about that other time? Wait, you wrote this about yourself?! My hope is that people who are really curious about that can go back and rewatch the season and get their brains going."

To help fans "get their brains going," here are 12 times we couldn't believe Dan was actually Gossip Girl.

Every time he pretends to be shocked by something that Gossip Girl wrote.

In the first season, Dan appears visibly upset over multiple Gossip Girl posts when he is completely alone.

In episode six of season one, for example, he looks shocked by a Gossip Girl update that says Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) is looking for a date to the masked ball.

Dan, you are alone in your kitchen. Why are you pretending to be so shocked when you — as Gossip Girl — wrote the post?

When he told the world his girlfriend bought a pregnancy test.

Dan looks completely shocked when the iconic Gossip Girl blast goes out that revealed Serena (who was Dan's girlfriend at the time) bought a pregnancy test.

Despite having an excuse for the fake gasp — since his sister Jenny (Taylor Momsen) and his father Rufus (Matthew Settle) were in the room with him — it still makes no sense why Dan would reveal this news.

Most teenage boys probably wouldn't want to publicly announce that they may have gotten their teenage girlfriend pregnant — especially knowing it would upset their father.

He constantly spreads rumors about his 15-year-old sister's sex life

Some sibling arguments here and there are to be expected, but Dan making his sister's sex life the biggest gossip in Manhattan is a definite low — not to mention gross.

In season one, Gossip Girl sent out this message about Jenny: "Breaking News — Asher Hornsby overheard bragging that Little J swiped her V card at his register. Didn't anyone teach you, Little J? You shouldn't give away the ending if you want him to pick up the book again.”

Not only is that epic slut shaming, but it's a despicable thing to say about your little sister. Dan shows no remorse and sends another blast later in the episode: "Looks like Little J didn't spread her legs after all. She spread lies instead."

Read that in Dan's voice and shudder.

The ease and relative cheapness of online streaming from services like Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video have created an entire generation of cord-cutters. As we can see in this chart from Statista — which draws on a poll by the Pew Research Center — a whopping 61% of adults 29 and younger use an online streaming service as their primary means of watching TV.  

The younger generation's TV habits represent a huge shift from those of their parents and grandparents. That's bad news for Time Warner Cable, Comcast and other pay TV giants, who face the prospect of seeing their customer bases drop as the population ages.

Some pay TV companies have been trying to change with the times. Dish launched Sling TV in 2015 and AT&T's DirecTV created a streaming service called DirecTV NOW last year.

Many of the worst television shows originate from some highly questionable concepts that make you wonder how they ever got approved.

ABC's "Cavemen" series in 2007, for instance, was based on characters from a short-lived Geico commercial, and Fox's 2014 reality show "I Wanna Marry Harry" saw 12 women compete for the chance to marry a Prince Harry look-alike who they thought was the real Prince of Wales.

Both shows were critical disasters, and each lasted only one season — as many of the worst reality shows, dramas, and sitcoms have.

To find out which programs critics hated the most, we turned to the review aggregator Metacritic for its list of the worst TV shows, which goes back to 1995. The list ranks show seasons by their composite critical reception.

A fifth "Game of Thrones" spinoff project is reportedly in the works, according to a new report from Entertainment Weekly. HBO confirmed the developing series in an email to INSIDER.

"EW can exclusively report that 'Thrones' co-executive producer Bryan Cogman is penning a drama series follow-up to the blockbuster franchise," EW's James Hibberd reported. "Cogman developed the project by working closely with author George R.R. Martin, who cryptically referenced the existence of an additional unconfirmed prequel on his blog months ago."

While details of the now five developing show ideas are still under wraps, HBO has dropped some small clues. For starters, none of the new spinoffs will include characters we already know on "Game of Thrones."

Martin has also confirmed that one of the most popular prequel ideas, Robert's Rebellion, is off the table as a possible storyline. He additionally said his novella series "The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" (colloquially called the "Dunk and Egg" series) will not be adapted for TV anytime soon.

"I do think it's very unlikely that we'll be getting four (or five) series," Martin wrote on his blog earlier this year. "At least not immediately. What we do have here is an order for four — now five — pilot scripts . How many pilots will be filmed, and how many series might come out of that, remains to be seen."

It's that time again. Netflix has released its monthly list of what's coming and going from the streaming site.

If you're looking for some classics, there are plenty of them. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," and "Boogie Nights," along with Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut" and "Tommy Boy" will be available.

Otherwise, you may be a bit disappointed by the pickings. A lot of good TV shows and movies will be leaving next month. While there are a lot of Netflix originals dropping next month, the highlight of them all is the second season of "Stranger Things."

Days after netting the top Emmy award for best drama series with "The Handmaid's Tale," Hulu has announced that it will be bringing actor Sean Penn into a new Hulu original series for his "first foray into television."

The upcoming drama series, "The First," will be led by Netflix's "House of Cards" creator Bill Willimon.

Hulu said in a release that the show will follow "the first human mission to Mars, exploring the challenges of taking the first steps toward interplanetary colonization."

The company gave no specific details about Penn's role in the series, but Willimon gave a statement expressing his "deep admiration" for the Oscar-winning actor.

"I have such deep admiration for Sean’s immense talent and extraordinary body of work," Willimon said in a statement. "I feel very lucky to be collaborating with an artist of his caliber."

Willimon's Westward Productions will own and produce the show, which is slated to premiere on Hulu and the UK's Channel 4 in 2018. 

Penn's last film appearance was a voiceover role in "The Angry Birds Movie." Despite Hulu's statement that this is his "first foray" into TV, Penn technically contributed voiceover work to Fox's "Family Guy" in 2016.

The NFL's TV ratings were down again in week two, and a Jefferies analyst has projected that its TV partners could lose out on $200 million or more, in earnings, if its ratings troubles persist in a double-digit way. 

In week two, the NFL saw a 4% drop from 2016's week two in live and same-day average viewers of Sunday games, and a 14% drop in viewers for Monday Night Football, according to UBS. 

This comes after a dismal week one, which saw ratings drop an average of 13% from the same week in 2016.

UBS speculated that cable coverage of Hurricane Irma may have affected the NFL's ratings in week one, but the drop in week two suggests a continued downward trend for the league's viewership. (NFL ratings were also down an average of 8% over the course of last season.) 

Jefferies analyst John Janedis told The Hollywood Reporter that CBS, ESPN, Fox, and NBC will generate around $2.5 billion in NFL ad revenue this year, but, as Jefferies confirmed to Business Insider, a 10% drop in ratings over the course of the season could cost those networks a $200 million cut in earnings. 

While UBS speculates that it will "take several weeks of data to gauge the health of the NFL" this season, the league's performance across most fronts in week two does not seem to bode well for its future, or for its network partners.

Sometimes, as the saying goes, you’ve got to look at the big picture.

Netflix has become a content machine, churning out shows, specials, and special shows faster than anyone can truly keep up with – that is, of course, unless your binge-watching. What a world we live in when you can legitimately say, “Nah, I’m not going out tonight, I’m sitting on my couch and watching eight straight hours of television,” and people will nod and accept it as a viable answer for a thing to do.

The issue, of course, is what to watch. Not everything the streaming service produces is actually that good, especially if you want to get sucked into a storyline so gripping you can’t seem to get out. Luckily, Netflix has a whole slewof programming literally designed to do just that. These are shows that are exponentially better when viewed as a whole rather than individual chapters. In fact, a lot of them can downright suck without watching them from start to finish.

We want to grab this list, grab your remote and Netflix and Chill in the most literal, non-euphemism way possible.

15. "The Get Down"

The Get Down is style and slickness in bingeable form, filled with color and light and thumping bass and loud music and it’s all is so over-the-top, my god, why is it so over-the-top.

This story of the rise of hip-hop in the South Bronx through the eyes of teenagers is done in Baz Luhrmann’s signature style, which means that everything’s exhausting, candy-colored, the dancing is beautiful, and the fight scenes are ridiculous.

Sadly, this can drag the show out, making it hard to care about the characters. Stay with it, though – the show nicely builds into something worth watching. There are only 11 episodes in total, and as the plot progresses, the story deepens and things become less ridiculous, ending in a truly satisfying conclusion for The Get Down Brothers.

14. "Hemlock Grove"

Welcome to Hemlock Grove, Pennsylvania, a lovely town filled with lovely hardworking people, nice scenery, werewolves, angel babies, fake-psychics, and a slew of murders.

Wait, what?

This supernatural soap opera can be a little much for anyone to take in, especially if you just sit down for an episode or two. But give it some time, especially because the pace of the plot moves at the speed of a snail riding a sloth. The acting, especially by Bill Skarsgard, is top-notch, and the dreamy, strange atmosphere does become addicting after a while.

Above all, the character arcs grow nicely, and issues that take place in season one come full circle by the end of season three. Unlike a werewolf attack, it’s not fast, but it does get the job done.

13. "The Santa Clarita Diet"

Do you like shows about zombie attacks? Great. How about suburban comedies? Now, what if we combined them together?

We have zero idea who Santa Clarita Diet was made for, since it’s not quite intense enough for horror fans and way too gory for lovers of typical sitcoms. A lot of people were turned off for both those reasons, but take a moment and turn it back on.

The show nicely builds upon itself, deepening both the characters and the world. The mystery of why a mild-mannered real estate broker would suddenly start eating people is nicely explained and you do start to care for the entire family. Plus, who doesn’t enjoy watching Drew Barrymore go a little crazy from time to time?

The laughs get funnier as the show goes on and the gore doesn’t drop. There’s a joke here about clutching your stomach for a couple reasons, but we’re not in a sitcom – just writing about one!

An advertising campaign for the new season of "American Horror Story" has been giving people panic attacks with its disturbing, hole-covered imagery, and the underlying cause is a rare but intense feeling of disgust that scientists are still trying to figure out.

Trypophobia, this fear of clustered holes, bumps, and similar patterns, affects around 15% of the general population. 

Some researchers think that the fear is an evolutionary instinct ingrained in humans to avoid dangerous, hole-covered formations in nature, like bee-hives or other poisonous structures. 

In this season of "American Horror Story: Cult," actress Sarah Paulson's character suffers from trypophobia, and as CNN notes, her overwhelming fear in the first episode of holes in her souffle and a piece of coral in her therapist's office has also affected viewers with the same condition.

One woman, Jennifer Adresen, told CNN that she had a "full-blown panic attack" with nausea upon seeing the show's promotional posters for the first time. 

Many people have since taken to Twitter to complain about the show's preoccupation with holes as a triggering mechanism. Some have even diagnosed themselves as having trypophobia. 

"American Horror Story: Cult" airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on FX.

Goop may be coming to your TV. Gwyneth Paltrow is planning to expand her popular wellness and lifestyle brand with a television show, among other ventures.

"We want to take Goop international, we want to get this TV show right," she told The Hollywood Reporter in a new interview.

THR asked if Paltrow wanted to follow in media mogul Oprah Winfrey's footsteps. Winfrey expanded her talk show brand into primetime TV specials; a magazine, O; and the cable TV network, OWN.

Paltrow explained her plans for the TV show, which she's currently calling "The Radical Wellness Show."

"Good morning! (Laughs, doing her best Oprah impression.) No, what we are thinking of doing is a TV show with the working title "The Radical Wellness Show." I would be going into the field and talking to any number of doctors, scientists, civilians, people in crisis in Flint, Michigan, where there is something to uncover and confront about wellness. We would want it to feel more Vice-y in its vibe, but we're just in the brainstorming phase. We signed on with Ben Silverman's production company, Propagate, to help us formalize and pitch it."

The 44-year-old actress-turned-entrepreneur has ambitious plans for Goop, but she doesn't want to follow Winfrey's path to OWN.

"Dude, then I'll be hospitalized," she jokingly responded when THR asked her about creating her own TV network.

Paltrow recently launched a Goop magazine and wants to open more Goop stores.

Netflix has been in an ongoing trademark dispute with the family of Pablo Escobar, the deceased Colombian drug lord depicted in the streaming service's show "Narcos," according to The Hollywood Reporter. 

THR obtained a letter written by lawyers for Narcos Productions, LLC (NPL), the company behind the Netflix series and its accompanying video game "Narcos: Cartel Wars," which outlines a series of "fraudulent,""Narcos"-related trademarks filed by the Escobar family in August 2016. 

"For example," NPL lawyer Jill M. Pietrini writes, "Escobar claims that it has used NARCOS in connection with things like 'operating a website' and 'game services provided online from a computer network' since Jan. 31, 1986. However, the internet had not been developed for widespread consumer use in 1986, nor was the capability to provide audiovisual works nor game services available at that time."

The letter, sent on July 27, also includes trademark claim documents from the Escobars for items related to the show, ranging from "downloadable ring tones" and "sunglasses, decorative magnets," to "temporary tattoos, bookmarks and sheet music."

In the document, NPL lawyers threaten to sue the Escobar family for damages related to "unauthorized use."

(Netflix recently sent a more tonally light-hearted, though still legally serious, cease-and-desist letter to an unauthorized "Stranger Things" pop-up bar in Chicago.)

Roberto De Jesus Escobar Gaviria, Escobar's 71-year-old surviving brother and the former accountant for the Medellín Cartel, has repeatedly demanded that Netflix pay $1 billion to his company, Escobar Inc., for intellectual property violations. 

"A billion is what we used to make in a good week in the 1980s and 1990s," Gaviria said in 2016. "Apparently money is now growing on trees in favor of Netflix after my show was released. They should pay me immediately."

On Monday, Gaviria again threatened Netflix, saying he would "close their little show" with legal action if they didn't pay him $1 billion.

The streaming service released the third season of "Narcos" on September 1.

Shooting for its upcoming fourth season has been marred by the death of Carlos Muñoz Portal, a location scout for the show, who was killed last Friday in a rural, cartel-dominated area near Mexico City. Gaviria told THR on Monday that Netflix should hire "hitmen" as security if they continue to film in Mexico and Colombia.

Netflix did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Dave Grohl and the entire Foo Fighters band piled into a van with "Late Late Show" host James Corden on Wednesday for the latest installment of "Carpool Karaoke."

With Corden driving, he and the band belted out a series of the rock group's hits, including 2002's "All My Life," 2005's "Best of You," and their most recent single, "The Sky is a Neighborhood."

Toward the end of the nearly 13-minute segment, Corden and the Foo Fighters get out at a Guitar Center, and the CBS late-night host puts in an honorable, though ill-fated, effort in a drumming contest against Grohl, the former drummer for Nirvana, and Taylor Hawkins, the Foo Fighters' current drummer. 

The Foo Fighters' ninth studio album, "Concrete and Gold," came out on September 15.

The animated Netflix comedy "BoJack Horseman" announced its renewal for a fifth season on Thursday with an animated video of the title character's iPhone. 

The show posted the announcement clip on its Twitter account. The video displays iMessages from a "clingy Netflix exec," telling BoJack (voiced by actor Will Arnett) that he's "back for a season 5."

Netflix released the series' fourth season on September 8.

No date has been set yet for the season five premiere, though the show has been producing a season each year since it debuted in 2014.
